Mild foot sprain, I've got 2 1/2 weeks til basic training, resting for a week..am I ok possibly?

Needs more time: I have had to deal with sprains personally a number of times. I like using an an elastic ankle support that you find at almost any drugstore for at least 3 weeks or more. The sprain is from a partial tear of a ligament. At this stage it is more susceptible to another tear. As long as it is getting better, you should be able to return to full exercise tolerance by the time you are back at camp. ...Read more

In this particular case, then stasis could lead to clotting. ...Read more

How long would a mid-foot sprain take to heal? I have had pain for over 5 weeks now. There is no swelling but the foot feels unstable and hurts after exercise.

Re-Evaluate.: Mid-foot sprains need to evaluated with a higher degree of focus. It is not unusual to have foot immobilized for 5 weeks followed by varying degrees of boots and walkers. If your foot was not evaluated by a specialist in mid foot injuries, then you need to find one, more sooner than later. This is one of those instances where it is better to over treat than under treat. ...Read more

4-6 weeks: Midfoot sprains take a bit longer to get over than ankle sprains. As long as the clinical exam X-rays +- MRI/CT do not show signs of instability .
