Help please? What is the treatment of inflammation of meninges caused by spinal fluid leakage?

Tough ??: Inflammation of the meninges is generally a result of (and not a cause of) CSF leak. In fact, some inflammation in the presence of a leak may help seal the leak. Inflammation may also indicate infection however, so you should discuss with your doc. It also depends on the cause of the leak (post-op, spontaneous, post-trauma, etc.). Most leaks seal themselves, but there is a small risk of meningitis ...Read more

Where can I get a more holistic approach to severe pain in lower leg and foot? I had an episode of transverse myelitis in late 2005 which affected my lower extremities from waist down. After treatment & rehab, i regained use of my legs but continued to exp

Needless : Needless to say, i assume the cause of your transverse myelitis was investigated, and you don't have an underlying infection. That being said, have you tried acupuncture? Also, one of the hard lessons we have learned from pain management clinics is that the mistake we continue to make in trying to manage pain is we try one thing, when that doesn't work or isn't enough, we abandon that and try something else. When that isn't enough, we abandon that and then do something else. What we should be doing is add a different treatment modality to the first, and if that's not enough, add a third, and so on. It turns out that 2+2=5 when it comes to pain management, and it might take a combination of medication, physical therapy, tens treatment, acupuncture and perhaps a trigger point or spinal injection to get you to a point where you can live comfortably. I hope this advice helps you. Chronic pain is extremely difficult to live with. Good luck. ...Read more
