What can I do to start regaining muscle right after my cast is removed?

What can I do to start regaining muscle right after my cast is removed?

Therapy: Ask your doctor how much you are allowed to do immediately after a cast is removed - bone may still be healing. Start with range of motion/stretching exercises. What happenes to your muscles and tendons if your in a cast or brace to long?

ATROPHY: Muscles shrink during periods of immobilization. However, tendons and ligaments are allowed to heal. The muscle strength and size usually will return quickly after normal use has resumed. ...Read more

Torn muscles in front middle of ankle for 4 months... What will an ortho recommend to help heal? Boot/cast? I need to keep it from reinjuring.

Torn muscles in front middle of ankle for 4 months... What will an ortho recommend to help heal? Boot/cast? I need to keep it from reinjuring.

Rest....: First off, there are no muscles in the front of your ankle. You have many tendons that cross the joint into your foot. They could be injured. Extent of injury: This really depends of the extent of injury. If tendons were torn this could be kept immobilized as long a fractured bone. Out of cast after 4 weeks (long arm) muscles in forearm tight n painful n numbness in thumb normal post cast? I had epychondolitis n torn tendon

Can be expected --: Stiffness from being in a cast for 4 weeks. Numbness maybe from cast being too tight or the cotton padding may have bunched up causing a local neuritis, which should clear up in 2-3 weeks time. As you exercise the tight muscles should loosen up and get stronger, reducing the stiffness as well.
Massage/stretching exercises would help the epicondylitis. The doc should advise re: the torn tendon! ...Read more
