What is the best antibiotic prescribed for sinus infection? Due to getting strep throat a lot i think I have become immune to amoxicillin. Can this be

Strep throat: If u r getting treated for strep throat 3+ times a year, u r probably doing more harm than good. Not only do the antibiotics kill good bacteria in your gut but they indirectly make u more susceptible to more infections by killing those good germs. I strongly recommend u starting a high dose probiotic (225 billion cfus). This will heal your immune system &decrease strep infections &heal your gut. ...Read more

Is the medication ceftin (cefuroxime) a mild or major antibiotic for sinus infections?

Is the medication ceftin (cefuroxime) a mild or major antibiotic for sinus infections?

That depends....: Ceftin (cefuroxime axetil) is a 2nd generation cephalosporin antibiotic (there are 4 generations now). It is commonly given for infections across the lungs, sinuses, gut, and skin. Mild or major, depends on perspective but overall i would say that antibiotics are over-prescribed. The key at this point is to finish the course you were given. ...Read more

Is it safe to use Advocare products while taking Adderal 15 and Effexor (venlafaxine) ER 75. Also taking an antibiotic for sinus infections - Biaxin. Thanks!

Advocare +meds: Hi ~ I looked this up the other day because another person asked. I did not see anything in the ingredients that would cause any problem with your meds. The only TOXIC issue was suggesting that the "colon cleanses" do any good at all. Frankly, I think its todays greatest scam. Use metamucil to bulk and increase roughage in diet and exercise. The GUT was designed by a genius. Its self cleansing! ...Read more

No Advocare: I would not use Advocare. It is not FDA approved. It isn't proven to be safe or effective. Also, there are no "quick fixes" for weight control, getting energized, etc. Fad diets only result in the weight being gained back later after the diet is over. You are taking a relatively low dose of Effexor (venlafaxine). Have you asked your doctor about possibly increasing your dose, as well as about your other issues? ...Read more

No: You need a proper diagnosis. If you have a sinus infection it is properly diagnosed with a ct scan. If you have chronic sinusitis, you may need surgery to open the drainage opening between your sinus and nasal cavity. See an ENT surgeon for a complete sinus evaluation. ...Read more
