Is it safe to use synthetic bergamot oil instead of pure essential bergamot oil as a hair treatment?
Not familiar: I do not know these oils-sorry.Get a more detailed answer ›
Not so much: Bergamot is a type of orange that grows in italy, and is often used to flavor tea. Green teas may be rich in vitamin k -- not so much the bergamot in it, though. If you're on Coumadin or another blood thinning medication, your doctor will want to keep your bleeding time stable. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Citrus bergamot, is it worth taking? I have been eating right and trying to exerise but I just want a little natural boost to cholestrol!
Doubtful: The reported 2009 spanish study in a non-nih-listed journal was uncontrolled and gave results that sound too good to be true; it's not been duplicated. A 2011 controlled rat study from italy confirmed a mild effect including inhibition of the same enzyme that statins work on. I eat orange peel myself and the tablets are probably safe -- but you're really helping yourself by staying fit. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Hello, does anyone know if Bergamot affects sperm? My partner takes bergamot tablets to reduce his high cholesterol; does it affect fertility?
I got severe migraine so can I take any supplement with lemon bioflavonoids or can I take any earl grey tea with bergamot?
Migraines: You can take earl grey tea and lemon bioflavonoids, but they're not likely to cure your migraines. Best to consult a neurologist about these headaches first, for a good evaluation. There are nutritional helps such as magnesium, coq10, etc, plus botanicals such as feverfew and butterbur. But your neurologist will be best at suggesting specifics to help you manage your headaches. Be well. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

If too little body fat leads to organ failure, then why do people say to avoid things like oil in our diet?
Separate issues: Excess body fat is MUCH more common than too little. One has to be on an extreme diet (or anorexic) or have malabsorption to get dangerously low body fat. Avoiding oils does not reduce body fat much; eating carbs is the main cause of fat. The reason some say oils should be avoided has to do with the fact that many oils are pro-inflammatory & cause oxidative stress- see http://tinyurl.com/metmg3w ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Why does my skin flake in the spring now? Used to be only winter. Do I need more oil in my diet? 58
Season change: A change of seasons will often cause dryness and flaking of the skin. Diet has no effect on skin moisture content, no matter what you have read online or in magazines. Try applying a good moisturizing lotion after bathing, while your skin is still moist. If that doesn't work, a dermatologist can prescribe one of the new lipid-rich emulsions that restore hydrophobic molecules to your skin. ...Read more
