Pregnant 5 months with head lice. Can use anti-lice lotion or shampoo contain ingredients permethrin 1% w/w or Dimethicone or benzyl benzoate 25% w/v?
No effects: Benzoic acid (benzoate) is a chemical intermediate. It is used as a preservative when it attaches to other molecules. By itself it does not have any known harmful effects: http://www. Epa. Gov/iris/subst/0355.htm#oralrfd ...Read more
Your body removes it:
Sodium Benzoate is primarily used as a food preservative. It is metabolized by the liver and then the breakdown products are excreted in the urine. The majority (97%) of ingested sodium benzoate is excreted within 4 hours of ingestion. No other means of removing this drug are known.

I don't believe it: Internet scare sites peddling "natural food" are allowed by law to make claims that any scientist will recognize as misleading. There's no shortage of benzoic acid in many fruits (famously cranberries) and it's chemically interchangeable with sodium benzoate varying only with ph. This alone should tell you that the danger is hyped -- if they believed their stuff, they'd attack cranberries. ...Read more
My friend is allergic to benzocaine, does that mean she will be allergic to benzophenone or benzoate acid?
No: It is the caine your friend is allergic to, an allergist can skin test her and suggest different anesthetics she can tolerate. ...Read more
See below: Very little. The drug is used in medicine to assist in lowering serum ammonia levels by activation of a nonurea cycle pathway; ammonia in the presence of benzoate will conjugate with glycine to form hippurate which is secreted by the kidney. As a preservative, there is little worry unless the individual is also on probenecid which can inhibit benzoate renal excretion. ...Read more
Nothing: There was a hoopla a while back about the mix of sodium benzoate (a preservative, chemically interchangeable to the natural benzoic acid that makes cranberries so tasty) and Ascorbic Acid (added to make fake orange drink healthy, I guess) forming benzene if left to sit in the hot sun. The amount was tiny and I wouldn't worry about it in your body. This stuff is silly. Don't worry. ...Read more

I put a keratin treatment in my hair & products containing 'Sodium Chloride' will strip hair of Keratin. Does this also apply to 'Sodium Benzoate too?
Adverse Sodium Benzo:
If you mix sodium benzoate with vitamin C (and it happens that there are two types of C in Express The Truth - calcium ascorbate and sodium ascorbyl phosphate), benzene can form. And benzene is carcinogenic. In the UK, a Food Standards Agency survey of benzene in soft drinks found high levels of it in four brands, which were removed from sale.
Even without getting mixed up with vitamin C, sodium benzoate might not be as friendly as it looks. A study conducted by Peter Piper, a professor at Sheffield University in the UK and an expert in molecular biology and biotechnology, found that sodium benzoate damages cells, in an adverse way. ...Read more

I am referring your question to some dental colleagues. I don't mean to be insulting but did you rinse for 1 minute & then spit out?

Can I take vitamin C pills (always made of sodium/potassium bicarbonate, (sodium bicarbonate) ascorbate, benzoate...) w. pulmonary hypertension requiring low sodium diet?
Yes, however...: I strongly advise you take Vitamin C, ideally 1000 mg 2-3x/day, but you should try to find forms without sodium. I don't know what's available in Denmark, but in the US you can find ascorbic acid, or calcium or magnesium ascorbate without sodium. Lypo-spheric Vit. C is esp. Well-absorbed, but has 120 mg of sodium, but a low sodium diet usually allows 2000mg/day. Vit. C is best with bioflavonoids. ...Read more
Acne medication: Benzoyl peroxide is a common treatment for mild acne. It kills P. acnes, the bacteria involved in the formation of acne. It works well in combination with other treatments, such as antibiotic gels. Any cream may have irritating side effects in some unlucky people, and/or lead to uneven skin tones in darker-skinned people. One can start with every-other-day use and increase if no skin irritation. ...Read more
Topical acne meds: Benzoyl peroxide and tretinoin can both be used to treat acne, but it is best to apply them at different times of the day. Tretinoin is best used at night time. At the beginning it is best to alternate them at night time, one night one, one night the other, until the skin gets used to them. They can both be drying. There are combination benzoyl peroxide/retinoid medications that can be used. ...Read more
I had scabes. I used permethrin5% for 7 consecutive days and nothing get better. When I stop using its come back again. Used benzyl benz. Too+clemastn?
Too much: You should only use it once, then repeat maybe in 10 days. If you use it every day it will irritate the skin and make your even more itchy. At some point you do have to worry about resistance, but try using the medication correctly first. Also make sure you are leaving on the lotion for 12 hours. ...Read more

Might not get to age: In pure or high ratios, it can explode and you'd age no more! In usual products it won't blow up - but, it is irritating to skin and is a carcinogen so i'd question using it.
