Benefits Of Taking Vitamin E While Breastfeeding
Is a level of 10.8 mg vitamin E okay for breastfeeding mother or should it be higher? . And if it should be higher, is it safe to supplement with more?
Forget it!: There is little reason to believe that taking vitamine would help anyone. To get blood levels checked is certainly excessive and unnecessary as there is no medical condition I can think of that can be helped by doing what you are doing.
Breastfeeding is providing nutrition to an infant using breat milk either directly by infant latching and sucking on the nipple or by feeding via bottle with expressed breast milk (when baby has difficulty suckling). Breast milk is the best milk for any baby but ...Read more
5mths postpartum, exclusively breastfeeding, is it safe to take vitamin supplements such as Vitamin E and Fish Oil?
Fish oil ok;? Vit E: Nutrition requirements for breast-feeding mothers are similar to those during pregnancy. Special attention to intake of protein, calcium, iron and vitamin C is advised. Fish oil supplements are likely safer than eater fish because of toxins found in some fish, but too much could increase risk of bleeding. Evidence about the safety of higher doses of vitamin E is inconclusive, so not recommended.
Is it safe to use silicone gel/sheets or vitamin E oil for scar treatment while breastfeeding? Will either help with a keloid?
Benefits: If possible, please go to a nearby Library and see the benefits or otherwise. If you have the opportunity to read the benefits from home, that would be easier. Hope all goes well.
Benefits unclear: There is evidence vit e might prevent heart disease, cancer, macular degeneration & dementia but research has given mixed & conflicting results. One problem is many of the studies use synthetic e or just Alpha tocopherol, but only natural mixed tocopherols are likely beneficial. Better evidence for benefits of eating e-rich foods. See http://www. Hsph. Harvard. Edu/nutritionsource/vitamin-e/ & my comment:.
Vitamins: Are substances your body needs but can't make from your food. Humans don't have a need for "vitamin E" - so it isn't a vitamin for us. Reports of the benefits of "vitamin E" are wildly exaggerated and are probably based on its effect on farm animals. Sorry
Do you recommend taking 400 mg vitamin E pills to healthy adults? And what are the benefits of vitamin E in general?
400 iu not mg!: Check your multivitamin first, because chances are high that it has vitamin E 400 IU in it already, so you do not have to take it separately. Vitamin E is an antioxidant supposedly good for health. The D-tocopherol is the most active form of it, mixed tocopherols are sometimes recommended by others. Speak to your PCP first to get her/ his recommendation.
Hardly any: Iti s not typically advised...As it isof doubtful value to humans.
Protects..: From photo-aging, also this effects is much better applying oil to the skin. Also a skin softener!
Is milk thistle and vitamin E effective? Can one take too much of either or is there a recommended dose to provide optimal benefits
Yes and yes: Both are effective for many things. Milk thistle protects the liver from toxins but may also help type 2 diabetes ; lower cholesterol. Usual dose is 140 mg of silymarin 3x/day. It's safe but can interact with many drugs so read about interactions at http://umm. Edu/health/medical/altmed/herb/milk-thistle. Also see http://ahha. Org/milkthistle. Htm for info on vit e see comment.
Antioxidants: Vitamin a and e are antioxidants which remove free radicals (unstable molecules that damage the cell structure.) vit a, e help boost immunity, fight infection, help muscle function, & may help prevent other diseases like diabetes. They help prevent cataract formation and macular degeneration. There are many more benefits of vit a, e obtained from green leafy veggies naturally especially.
Wat is the proper dose of vitamin E to take for nash. In a 24 year old male 59kg 174cm BMI 19.5 not to risk side effects of vit e and to take benefit?
800 IU: If you have biopsy proven nash, the studies recommend 800 iu per day.
Varies: I have seen 100iu to 400iu prescribed. I recommend using 100iu and seeing how much benefit a person gets.
What does it mean that vitamin A and vitamin E are fat soluble that the body cannot get rid of them easily how can I benefit from these supplements?
It means that: These vitamins can "build up"/be stored in the fatty tissue., so that means you can build up toxic levels easily. Non fat soluble vitamins can't hide in the fat and your kidneys are usually able to excrete the excess amounts so the toxicity is more readily avoided. Remember not all of the consumed fat soluble vitamins hide in fat, some will readily be utilizable by your body.See 2 more doctor answers
