Might I use Benadryl (diphenhydramine) itch cream(extra strength) with Benadryl (diphenhydramine) allergy pills?
Probably yes.: Many people report their 'daily' non-sedating antihistamine in the am does not provide relief until next am. So, if no concerns for gu/heart/bp/med-conflict issues, then they often take a 'sedating' antihistamine at night for continued symptom relief and 'bonus' of sleep aid effect. ...Read more

Zyrtec (cetirizine): Polaramine (dexchlorpheniramine maleate) (dexchlorpheniramine) is an older antihistamine that is not used as often due to dosing every 8 hours and side effects (impaired driving ability). Effectiveness of polaramine (dexchlorpheniramine maleate) was similar to Claritin (loratadine) while a study in healthy adults showed zyrtec (cetirizine) to be a better antihistamine than polaramine (dexchlorpheniramine maleate).
