Benadryl For Sunburn Itch
Simple Care: Sunburn is response of the tissues to injury from solar radiation. It is simply inflammation which means increase blood flow to the area to promote healing. Do not use ice as this can injure already injured skin. Cool water soaks can help as can taking anti-inflammation medicines like Motrin or advil (ibuprofen). Avoid any further damage as this can cause scarring. Good skin cream applied daily/gently helps.See 1 more doctor answer

Can Benadryl (diphenhydramine) help relieve itching from dyshidriotic excema - it itches so bad, right in between my fingers :p?
NO!!!!!: Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is a sleeping pill. It will make you sleepy. Even if you do not feel sleepy you are prone to accidents, same as alcohol. It will do nothing for your itch or your dermatitis. A potent steroid cream or gel will help you & is safe. Sometimes a few doses of oral steroid are useful, such as Prednisone 20mg alternate days for 3-5 doses. Usually it responds to clobetasol cream.

Call your doctor: If it continues, it will need to be seen. This may be a reaction to the vaccine. Even if it resolves, it's a good idea to call the office where you received the shot. This would be considered an "adverse event". The cdc collects data on these events to monitor vaccine safety, and calculate the risks of side effects.
Why I breakout with welts on my forearm it itches too what can it be I take Benadryl (diphenhydramine) it goes away sometimes but what can it be it comes and goes?
Many causes: If Benadryl (diphenhydramine) controlled it, then it is not contact dermatitis in the true sense. If the hives are confined to the forearms, then it may be from something you are using on your forearm especially when they don't involve the other exposed areas of the body (which would have suggested a link to sun exposure). Consider seeing a dermatologist.
14 y old son has a sunburn and 50+ tiny bug bites on his neck from micro caterpillars at the Lacrosse field. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) every 4 hrs. Not helping much?
Sunburn/bites: He may require a short course of PO steroid treatment in addition to antihistamines. Keep the area clean and try cold packs and neosporin. All the best.
Have a bruise on the back of my thigh for 2 wks it itches like crazy for 2 wks been taking Benadryl (diphenhydramine) and itch cream not working I need suggestions plz?

Should I go to the emergency room for increasingly swollen lips from a sunburn on sunday? I've been drinking lots of water, iced, used cucumbers, and took about 3 doses of Benadryl yesterday. They have become increasingly more swollen since yesterday morn
Sun poisoning: This is the non medical term for overexposure to many damaging rays. This is an inflammatory reaction by your tissues, and benedryl will not help. Ice was a good idea, but your dr. May deceide to place you on a steroid to reduce the swelling.See 1 more doctor answer
I broke out with red like sunburn rash today all over body, took 50mg benadryl (diphenhydramine) and doesn't seem to help. Two days ago I was in bed all day because every joint in my body hurt and had no energy or strength... Not sure if it's related.
Viral Illness: If your rash is red, raised, and itchy you could be suffering from acute hives (urticaria). Hives is a common manifestation during are shortly after a viral infection which it sounds like you are suffering from. Try treating with OTC nonsedating antihistamine like Zyrtec (cetirizine) 1-2 per day and symptomatic management (increased fluids, rest). If rash not responding see doctor to have evaluated.

Dry Skin: Generalized itching without primary skin rash most commonly caused by dry skin. Most severe during the winter months and in older people, characterized by itching in areas of dry, scaly skin. Lab work can check if there is an underlying cause: CBC/diff, liver/renal function tests, and thyroid workup. Treat with daily moisturzation and better skin hygiene. Non-sedating antihistamines for itch.

I always eat papaya, but I just had some now and my throat itches but I am 6 weeks pregnant could this be allergy? If so it's Benadryl (diphenhydramine) safe?
Anti-itch cream: Sunburn is caused by sun damage to the skin. The itching is part of the inflammatory response to that damage. You can use aloe-containing products, much as you would for a burn. Also, 1% Hydrocortisone cream may be of benefit. The main thing, though, is to avoid getting burned again in the future. Sunburns can be associated with the development of skin cancer.
Back and sides of neck itches. Turns red and feels kind of like a sunburn. For a couple of weeks now. Gets worse wearing my scarves and a sweatshirt?
This sounds like: A contact rash, possibly from your scarves. Is the rash anywhere else? How long does it last? I would recommend having it checked by your doctor. Or if you are a HealthTap Prime member, getting a consult where you can send a photo to one of us. You can also try not wearing the scarves and see if it goes away. Antihistamines may help temporarily.

My skin has been itching every place but my face I have been taking Benadryl (diphenhydramine) for three week what is wrong with me?
Dry skin or allergy: You probably have dry skin or sensitivity to soap or something you are putting on your face. See your doctor or dermatologist as there are some other less common but important possibilities as well.
