Benadryl Asthma Allergy Symptoms
Benadryl is sedating: Claritin, zyrtec, allegra, or Benadryl can help with allergy and asthma symptoms caused by allergies to respiratory pollens or other airborne allergens. One should work with his doctor to see which combination of over-the-counter allergy meds and prescription asthma inhalers/pills work the best. A patient will learn over time, what medicines to add or increase, depending on how "bad" the air is. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Is it safe to take Benadryl with cymbacort , I have COPD and mild asthma but am having some allergy symptoms right now?I also use rescue inhaler
Yes, but: Benadryl is an excellent antihistamine and works very well. However, the side effects (sedation, visual disturbances, dizziness when standing up to fast can be problematic). There are other antihistamines that have fewer side effects like Claritin which are more likely to not affect other medications you may be using. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
No: Children who have asthma may have symptoms during the night, the major one being a nighttime dry cough. Benadryl(diphenhydramine) is an antihistamine which helps with allergies and can cause sleepiness. In most cases, Benadryl will not hurt the asthma but will not fix the problem. Asthma symptoms in the night are usually signs of poor asthma control and warrant follow-up with your pediatrician. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

I take Claritin & sudafed daily to help w/allergies & asthma, but allergies &/or head cold are very bad now. What else can I add? Benadryl?
Need alternative to zirtec for allergy-induced asthma. Allegra and Benadryl don't work, nor albuterol asthma inhalars. Claritin gives me nasal pain.
Allergic help: You will definitely need to speak with your physician about this. Other alternatives include the short acting chlorphenamine (chlortrimetron), sold over the counter. There are prescription medications - xyzal, singulair, xopenex, flonase and more. Ultimately - make sure you speak with your physician about this, since the medications you have tried so far are not providing relief for you. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
