Are Benadryl (diphenhydramine) allergy dissolving strips usually safe to use while having bronchitis?
Yes: Yes they are generally safe, but may not be effective or recommended. Older antihistamines such as Benadryl (diphenhydramine) could be too drying when you are experiencing bronchitis. If you are having bad allergies on top of the bronchitis, try a newer otc antihistamine such as Loratadine or cetirizine. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is the only thing that helps my allergies at night. One tablet leaves me severely groggy in the morning though. But, is it safe?
Safe until AM: In the morning you must be careful if you have to drive anywhere. People on Benadryl (diphenhydramine) don't drive much better than people with a hangover or a mildly intoxicated state. Leave plenty of room between you and the car ahead of you and don't drive over the speed limit. Be safe. ...Read more
It is safe to use Benadryl (diphenhydramine) for my perfume esence allergy? At my highschool, almost everyone uses a perfume and it will be very hard for me. I am 16.
Try other options: Perfumes cause local irritation in the nose and eyes, which leads to symptoms very similar to allergies. But what you are experiencing is not a true allergic reaction. So Benadryl (diphenhydramine) may not be very helpful, and can make you sleepy. Try over the counter Zyrtec or Allegra and if still not better, then you will need to go see a doctor for prescription nose sprays. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Is it safe to give my 16 month old(who weighs 19lbs) children's Claritin instead of Benadryl (diphenhydramine) for allergies?
Is it safe to give a 21 lb (6 mo) baby a dose of benadryl-d for congestion/allergies/sinus trouble? If so, what is the dosage? Thanks
Too young?: It's usually not recommended to medicate babies this young. S/he doesnt have sinuses so, please do not try to treat for 'sinusitis'. Check with your pediatrician before giving any over-the-counter med to your baby. In the meantime, you can give very small sprays of saline into baby's nose and use bulb suction to remove mucus. ...Read more
I just drank a bottle of sake but my allergies are killing me and I can't sleep. Would it be safe take to take Benadryl (diphenhydramine)?
Currently taking Claritin and Benadryl (diphenhydramine) for allergies. Would it be safe to instead take clairtin and chlorpheniramine? Should be temporary.
If necessary: All the medications mentioned are antihistamines. Claritin (loratadine) is a new generation one and Benadryl (diphenhydramine) and chlorpheniramine are first generation ones. While short term use likely has no serious side effects, there should be a treatment that doesn't require both. Also, the reason for the symptoms should be addressed in an effort to prevent symptoms. ...Read more

Yes: It is almost 12hrs since you last xanax dose. The effect of xanax is usually much shorter than 12hrs, so it is safe to take benadryl (diphenhydramine). Is it safe to take Benadryl (diphenhydramine) after 3 glasses of wine if i feel i may have been exposed to a food allergy of mine?
NO: Benadryl (diphenhydramine) makes you groggy like a glass of wine. 3 glasses of wine makes most of the people very groggy. I don't know about you (depend of body mass and tolerance). Having an allergic reaction should be addressed as well especially after that drinking. If the allergic reaction is not severe you consider drinking as much water. If the reaction is severe you need to see a doctor. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
