Normal chest X-ray & abdominal/pelivic CT scan, but positive TB skin test? I have low grade fevers, extreme fatigue & swollen lymph nodes. Tb?
Unlikely TB: It is unusual to have TB with a normal chest x-ray. You need to see your doctor get a work-up ASAP. ...Read more
Extreme fatigue and swollen lymph nodes. Checked out by surgeon. CBC: White blood cells in normal range, lymphocytes 53% ESR and CRP ok. No fever, I gained weight. Doctors say an infection. Ideas?
My girlfriend has swollen lymph nodes throughout her body. Some are hard and fixed and others are hard and movable. She has had a ton of other symptoms, but doctors can't figure it out. CBC is normal.
A biopsy: Of one of those nodes may be in order. Check with your doc. ...Read more
Swollen lymph nodes all over body. All less than 2 cm but I keep getting more. Low grade temps over 6mths. Normal CT scan... What can it be?
Maybe nothing wrong: With small nodes and normal CT -- implying no enlarged nodes internally, no abnormalities of spleen or liver -- maybe nothing is wrong. Lymph nodes under 2 cm may not be enlarged at all -- assuming the lumps you feel are lymph nodes in the first place. Has your doctor confirmed them? Any lab results, e.g. HIV, syphilis, blood count? If your doc has reassured you all is well, I would agree. ...Read more

I've been sick for 2 months!! Swollen lymph nodes on left side of body. I've been to the Dr. S office 3 times.
More specifics: Do you mean the swollen nodes at the left side of the neck and not the whole body? If so, it may mean that there is a sinus infection or dental abscess. I can't think of a condition which causes nodes to be enlarged involving much of the left side of the body. Perhaps you need a second opinion by seeing another doctor ...Read more
Sometimes: Lymph nodes are commonly felt in the head and neck because they are not buried in fat or muscle like they are in the rest of the body. Skin irritation, bug bites, acne and or illness can cause transient swelling in nodes. They usually enlarge/shrink over a 3-6 wk cycle but may persist when the triggering problems remain. ...Read more

Monitoring Centers: Lymphatic system absorbs/carries things too big to go into the arteries/veins like bacteria eaten by white cells and digested food. Lymph nodes "taste" the lymph for anything bad like bacteria/viruses/cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts. They enlarge in response to the inflammation they create when they react. They shrink when all is well. ...Read more

No swollen lymph nodes anywhere in my body that I could touch, in the past 10 days I have developed a systematic itch all over can this be hodgkin?
See your MD or derm: Itch can be caused by many things. Most commonly is due to problems with skin itself. Dry skin is the most common one. Other condition such as dermatitis - to different agents- soap, parfume, detergen, clothing material etc is very common too. Sure, systemic disease like cancer and autoimmune can have skin manifestation too- but it is not common. Remember common things happen commonly. ...Read more
I keep getting swollen lymph nodes in my groin area. They all come and then go away but I keep getting them. Is this normal as long as they go away?

Swollen lymph nodes, always sick (sick more often than healthy) I can't remember what it's like to feel normal, constant migraines. What could cause?
Several things: Infection and lymphoma are two possibilities. If you are sexually active, you should see your doctor for an std test that should include hiv, among others. This may also be lymphoma (hodkin's lymphoma has a peak of incidence in your age group). Other causes include sarcoidosis or other form of autoimmunigy. Go see your doctor! ...Read more

Lymphadenopathy: Lymph nodes swell and fluctuate usually due to the inflammatory reaction of infection. Pain also usually means infection and not cancer. If bacterial in origin, then antibiotics may help. If it persists beyond a month, you should see someone who can evaluate it with a needle aspiration bx or similar diagnostic procedure. ...Read more
I have a fever blister and swollen lymph nodes and just don't feel good, is that pretty normal with a fever blister? Just feel drained.
Not really...: Ususally there's no lymph node swelling or systemic symptoms ("feel drained") in recurrent oral herpes (fever blister, cold sore). But outbreaks often are triggered by infections that cause these symptoms. Probably that's what's going on. A brand new herpes infection could do this, but unlikely with only a single sore and no new exposure. See doctor if symptoms severe or last more than 3-4 days. ...Read more
Yes: The swollen lymph nodes may be from a localized response to an immune challenge and thus the WBC may well be normal. ...Read more
Does HIV cause 3 mild swollen lymph nodes in one side of the neck? No other nodes are swollen in all my body? I tested negative!
Monitoring System: The lymphatic system absorbs and carries things too big to go into the arteries and veins like bacteria eaten by white cells and digested food. The lymph nodes "taste" the lymph to see if anything bad is there like bacteria, viruses, cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts. They enlarge in response to the inflammation they create when they react. ...Read more
What do you suggest if my little boy (3) has had a swollen lymph nodes in groin and neck for months but bloods all normal?
2 options: If he is seemingly healthy, active, appetite good and no other symptoms, I would recommend watchful waiting. If any concurrent symptoms, he just isn't himself, poor growth or weight loss, fevers, then I would suggest a biopsy of one of the nodes. Make sure he has also had a TB test done as well. Also, if you have a cat, have him checked for cat-scratch disease (blood test). ...Read more
Probably: Ct scans would show enlarges nodes in the neck, chest and abdomen. Visualization of the chest and abdomen can be improved by vascular contrast agents which is technically not an angiogram. Abdominal images are also more specific if you drink oral contrast to delineate bowel structures as compared to potental nodes. ...Read more

I have painful swollen lymph nodes all over my body with out a fever and CBC came back ok this has lasted for 29 days?
Lymph nodes: If there are swollen lymph nodes that are tender and have been present for almost a month it may be reasonable at this point to be checked by a physician. While you do not have a fever and your labs came back normal it may still be advised to have a complete physical exam to make sure this are slightly. A biopsy of a lymph node may also be advised but I would recommend being evaluated first. ...Read more
2% of reactive lymphocytes in test. Lymphocytes 28 (normal 16-45) Swollen lymph nodes on neck since 5 weeks ago. No other symptoms. Is it bad? WORRIED
Relax: You're a grown man so presumably you get checked for HIV maybe once a year. Everybody has a few palpable nodes in their neck; they're your friends. You may have met a minor virus of some sort and fought it off. You're entitled to have a few percent ayptical / reactive lymphs and be healthy. Relax and be thankful. ...Read more
Could u have swollen lymph nodes if your cbc, CBC with differential, esr, and CRP all came back normal?
Yes you can: CBC etc only rise if there is a serious infection. But lymph nodes can enlarge for many different reasons, infections being one of the common causes. Most infections in the throat commonly affect the lymph nodes but are often not associated with high blood counts. If they are continuing to increase in size, then you should get checked by your doctor. ...Read more
What do you suggest if my son (3) has swollen lymph nodes in neck and groin but bloods all normal should I still be worried?
Depends on situation: Lymph glands generally swell after stimulation and can do so after a general illness, vaccinations, or if limited to one area, some local factors. If they enlarge and gradually shrink back to resting size within 3-4 weeks, they are behaving normally. You have done the initial baseline workup, so I would give it time and recheck if it persists too long. ...Read more
I have thrush. I have sores in my mouth but am now experiencing swollen lymph nodes kind of close to my chin. Is this normal? Taking nystatin for it
Not Normal: Thrush in the mouth is usually after taking a course of antibiotics but other conditions can cause it.
