Soreness: at the site of a surgical incision 5 days after surgery is normal. Generally pain medication is prescribed by the surgeon for this discomfort. Dried blood under surgical tape can be normal & is not a cause of pain. If there is increasing skin redness around the incision, or other concerns, see or call your surgeon soon. Infection: Sounds like an infection if you see pus. The infection could be superficial. If the area around the incision appear red and tender that could be a sign of cellulitis. If not, I would apply triple antibiotic ointment (can find over the counter) several times a day for several days.
