Believe In Power Of Prayer Will It Work For Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal tunnel over the years I have slowly built wrist pain that i'm assuming is carpal tunnel. I have heard from some friends about endoscopic carpal tunnel release surgery as a great way to help alleviate the symptoms. Can someone help explain what this
Minimally invasive.: Endoscopic carpal tunnel release (ectr) is a minimally inasive technique for releasing the carpal ligament. I use the microaire system in my practice which allows for a much smaller scar that is well hidden in the transverse wrist crease. I have patients who have had an open procedure on one side with an endoscopic release on the other hand who report kess pain and faster recovery as well. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Yes faith helps: Chronic pain is best treated with a holistic approach with pain medication, exercise, sleep, supplements as well as faith. The public health literature has shown that patients who believe they are in better health and or have more faith, do better. Whatever one's spiritua beliefs are, the more time you can change the perception of pain by accessing the subconscious mind (meditation), better for u. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
Yes: Grieving has been a part of life since the begining of time. All religions have developed strategies for dealing with loss. The process of connecting to a higher power and more importantly to reconnect with those who are still alive are a part of most religious ceremonies. But if grief becomes immobilizing and prolonged seek professional help. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
It Depends: If you are speaking of faith healing in general, as a physician and scientist, i cannot vouch for that as a viable medical intervention. However, since overactive bladder is a condition highly affected by stress and other goings-on in your brain, i would not dispute that stress-reduction by any means or any activities that contribute to positive thinking and overall feeling of well-being can help. ...Read more
No, I am afraid not: While I am quite religious myself, i dont think the power of prayer alone will work or enough to treat any cancer. To treat head and neck cancer - 3 modalities are commonly used - chemo, radiation and surgery-either as a single or combined modality, treatment will depend on the location and the stage of disease. The power of prayer hopefully will help guide you through the treatment process above. ...Read moreSee 4 more doctor answers
Probably...: It is very rare for carpal tunnel to be a permanent condition. It can be cured with surgery in properly selected patients. I suspect cts patients have engaged in many careers with intensive hand activity, so don't be discouraged. Sometimes: Carpal tunnel happens in individuals who are predisposed to having excessive pressure on their median nerves at the wrist by virtue of their wrist anatomy i.E smaller or larger carpal tunnel, sensitive nerve. On top of that predisposition, overuse of the wrist and specifically flexing/extension will bring on symptoms. While massage may presumably "loosen" up the tightness, the relief may be short. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I have fibromyalgia and sogrens and now bursitis in the hip, tendonitis in the shoulder. Does anyone see a benefit in buying a sleep number bed?
Treat the fibromyalg: I suspect a lot of this is fibromyalgia. It is made worse by poor sleep, poor exercise, and poor control of the stress and psychiatric issues you need to treat all of these issues. The sleep number bed may help the sleep, but it may be a benefit to get a sleep evaluation to see if there is any other process occurring. If there is it may not be necessary to get the sleep number bed. Issues to be certain all of the reasons you have fibromyalgia are being treated. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My son has carpal tunnel syndrome any daily exercise for relief and cure? Also will it work if he uses the keyboard a lot and exercise it.
Can you get carpal tunnel syndrome from typing on a touch screen / tablet? Or does touch reduce the chances of getting injured compared to a keyboard?
Depends: Actually, the primary cause for cts would be prolonged wrist flexion, such as sleeping with the hands tucked under the pillow or head when sleeping. Touch screens vs keyboards would follow the same logic depending on the prolonged posture. If the touch screen patient holds the tablet with a prolonged flexed wrist while typing with the other, they would more likely experience numbness than others. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
