It can be: A problem. Prednisone can increase the chance of increased stomach acid and inflammation, like gastritis or even stomach/duodenal ulcers. Alcohol may contribute to this as well. You didn't say why you are on it, but I am guessing a COPD exacerbation, which means you probably smoke. The combo of alcohol, tobacco and Prednisone is not a good one for your GI tract. It is not desirable to use prednisone, though, for long term control of the disease, due to its many side effects. Varies.: Depends on how it was stopped. If stopped abruptly it may have rebound effects of the disease process that was treated. IE a flare. May feel fatigued and sluggish until the effects wears off. If you have been taking it longer than two to three weeks should be tapered off by doctors directions.
