Been Taking 5mg Of Xanax Twice A Day For One Week Am I Addicted At This Point
Not necessarily: Just because you have been taking Xanax (alprazolam) for a week doesn't mean you are addicted. Addiction is when someone becomes depdent on the drug, physically and/or psychologically. When you are addicted, you may develop tolerance to the drug, may require higher and higher doses, withdraw if stopped, and misuse the drug to get the effect you want even if the use is compromising your daily function. Alprazolam is a short acting benzodiazepine, it does not last long in the system. So when used regularly with multiple doses to treat anxiety, it is associated with inter-dose withdrawal, tolerance and a resulting increase level of baseline anxiety. So in anxiety clinics, we use it only in cases of " flight, dentist or other infrequent anxieties, ...Read more
Can taking Xanax (alprazolam) for a short period low dose (once a day for one week, 1.0) cause brain/nerve damage in body?
Xanax (alprazolam): No. No. No.Get a more detailed answer ›
I've taken Xanax (alprazolam) on and off for a while. Maybe one. 5mg one day, then none for a week. As needed basis. How does this affect dependence/withdrawal?
You won't get either: Dependence on benzodiazepines requires daily or near daily use of enough of a dose to start re-regulating our receptor systems. Occasional use, such as you are doing, will not do that. However, consider using other techniques to control anxiety - meditation, self-hypnosis, progressive relaxation exercises, guided imagery and many other techniques are better than using benzos, even occasionally. I took 10 Xanax (alprazolam) 5mg one day being depressed and since then my memory has been awful. Is it the xanax (alprazolam)? And why? It's been about 3 weeks.
Depression: The act of attempting to die and then living but not getting to the help that is available can be very numbing and frustrating and exhausting. I appreciate that you have reached out here. I would next have you talk to the school counselor or to call your physician to report that you feel this poorly. I wish you the very best. Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Was taking 1.5 mg of Xanax (alprazolam) daily as needed for panic for 5 weeks. When I don't take it for more than a day I have tremors. Could I have a mild addict?
Yes, but it's good: You've had a relatively short duration of use, so it will be easier for you to taper off use and get past the w/drawal effects. I've heard a very safe pattern is to step down 0.25mg in dose every 2 weeks till gone. So, 1.25mg/day then 1mg, then 0.75mg, then 0.5, to 0.25 and FREE! 2-1/2 months to a safe landing. Or, better yet - ask a provider to guide you off safely. Be careful w/ Rx's. Best 2U! Read more
Can. 0625 Xanax (alprazolam) be tapered? Self tapering for about 6 weeks, one week none. Last 2 weeks. 0625 a day, then from 2nd to 7th every other. Nothing since
Well, it sounds like: You are asking this after tapering yourself off. I would encourage you not to self- manage your treatment with psychotropic medications. This question should be asked of the prescribing medical provider vice doctors on line who don't really know you. Take care. Read more
I have been taken one and a half milligram of Xanax (alprazolam) per day for about six or seven weeks am I ok to stop will it be safe I do not have a doctor?
Prescribing doctor?: If you have been taking that much xanax (alprazolam), (alprazolam) someone has supplied you with it -- either legally through prescription or illegally otherwise. At that dose you could have some withdrawal symptoms. So, I suggest you do see a physician to help you taper off the medication. It's best to establish a relationship so you can be followed over time for both the xanax (alprazolam) issues, and the reasons you're taking it. Read more
I am currently on 1 mg Xanax twice a day. 3 months ago I was at 3 times a day. This month I've been able to take only one pill most days. I am now uninsured and refills may not be available. I would like to just get off Xanax. What do I do?
Stop it: There should be no withrawal from that dose. It makes sense to consult with your physician before changing medication. Read more
If someone was taking. 5 mg of xanax (generic) for maybe 6 days with a 3 day break, and 1mg for 5 days, what are the chances of being addicted?
How long does it take to get addicted to Xanax? Been taking. 25-.5mg daily for almost 2 weeks. Anxiety has been crazy for me.
Typically 1 month: After a month of regular use of Xanax your body can become dependent on it physically. The psychological dependence can be very strong with Xanax as well. The goal with Xanax should be to use it as a band-aid rather than as a cure. It works well for anxiety but should only be used for really severe anxiety, short-term and not daily. Talk with a doctor about things to start long term. Read more
I have been taking 1.5 mg of Xanax (alprazolam) a day in one dose. Is taking 2mgof Ativan (trying to switch meds) ok instead of Xanax (alprazolam)?
My dr gave me a presciption for Xanax (alprazolam) 0.25mg. Bottle says to take a whole to 1/2 three times a day. I have been taking 1/2. Afraid of whole one.
Sounds good: You said your prescription instructs 1/2 to 1 three times a day, so you taking 1/2 is within the range of what your doctor instructed. As long as you are feeling better, you don't have to take a whole tablet. If you are still not sure, you can ask your doctor to confirm. Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I have a friend who takes 12 of the 2 mg Xanax (alprazolam) bars in one day she's highly addictive and I need to find out some way I can help her?
Dangerous practice: Your "friend" sounds committed to self-destruction -- is she interested in help? Have you spoken with her about your observations? I notice that your own medication list includes both Alprazolam (generic xanax), xanax, (alprazolam) and lorcet. So, I wonder if you're asking about yourself rather than a "friend." if this is the case, please talk with your doctor -- you can get addiction medicine help! Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I'm on a low dose of xanax 0.25mg. And it says to take 1-2 a day if needed. Can I take an extra one? I feel it doesn't last long even when I take two.
Follow Dr's directon: Xanax is out of your system very quickly. It can be highly addictive, as well. It is intended to be used for very short periods of time for extremely stressful temporary situations. If your stress or anxiety is ongoing and especially if you need more than 2 a day, you may need a different kind of medication. Make an appointment with your doctor and follow her insructions.
