It depends: It depends on what's causing the pain. Naproxen is a nonsteroidal antiinflammatory medication that will address most if not all forms of pain. Baclofen has muscle relaxant properties that are helpful if there is a spasm component or increased tone component of pain. Depends on grade: If gr. 1, treatment is ice, rest ; activity modification. Gr 2 means some muscle damage but no loss of continuity, same rx 4 a longer time 4-6 wks.Gr.3=significant tear of muscle ; recovery is long, now months not was . Be seen: If you have been having pain for 7 weeks and have tried OTC remedies, I think you should be seen ASAP. You could have a severe gastritis, (inflammation of the stomach lining), or an ulcer. Might need to see Dr: There are many causes of knee pain. Tendinitis generally doesnt respond to medications. A physiotherapist might be helpful re your bracing. Suggest get it checked if worsening. L5-S1 microdiscectomy Fri for left leg sciatic pain. Calf/foot pain relief w/some thigh/behind knee pain. Pain less AM but sharp pain down left leg into foot w/pain level of 9.5 & hurts sitting/lying.
Microdiskectomy: Give it some time; sometimes simply moving the roots around can upset the lumbar plexus and give you intermittent (even quite severe) pain, although it resolves within a week or two. Getting to the disk requires mobilization of the roots and inflammatory changes from that- or the disk herniation- itself can give this pain.
