Likely: Try miralax (polyethylene glycol). It has no taste. Mix one capful in 4-8 oz of any non-carbonated beverage daily. It just draws water into your colon to really make your stool softer. The goal is an easy-to-pass, long smooth stool. No rocks or hard pebbles. Chronic constipation can lead to diverticulosis or obstipation. Why does my back hurt so badly when I need to use the bathroom? All good on colonoscopy. Have had a couple of abdominal surg. Could it be scar tissue?

Increased pressure.: You may be experiencing increased back pain if you strain at your stools. If you do, try stool softeners if necessary, and eat 9-11 servings of vegetables and fruits daily.
