"human pancreatic exocrine response to nutrients in health and disease" bmj 2005 figure 2 says lipase post-lundh meal should rise 5x. Is this correct?
Maybe, but...: That graph is a generalization, based on other scientists' studies (one would have to review the original studies). The graph shows pancreatic "enzyme delivery into the duodenum increases rapidly and reaches maximal values within the first postprandial hour", which means it's an estimate of the amount of enzyme put into the small intestine to digest food... Not a measure of lipase on a blood test. ...Read more

Because he's stumped: There was nothing discovered in the neurological exams done to explain your complaints. In addition to understood disorders, Psychotherapy/tropics have served the medical community (indeed, all of us) as a 'junk drawer'. Where we put things we're not sure what to do with. We can often help, too. It may only be by lessening stress or anxiety or teaching better life skills but that can be BIG. OK? ...Read more

Tough: I'm not sure that testing cerebral folate (folic acid) is different from blood folate (folic acid). If you are wondering about depression and folate (folic acid) and being low in the ability to convert folate (folic acid) to l- methylfolate (folic acid), it is a trial of medication, generally. I could be wrong but a neurologist is the brain doctor. I'm not sure u need that though. ...Read more

If all normal and no cardiac issues and meets criteria for adhd can do low dose stimulant to see if anger issues worsen. May need second med for anger if therapy not helpful. ...Read more
Labs results normal? Had a comp metabolic panel w/egfr egfr non-afr american 89 ml/min/1.73m2. What is this lab test? And is this result normal?
EGFR: An egfr is an "estimated glomerular filtration rate". It is not exact. To get the exact figure go to a nephrologist (n) to have a 24 hour urine collection for creatinine clearance. That will give you an actual gfr. As a young woman, your results, estimated, a bit abnormal. If you are an african-american, your egfr is normal, if not, see a n. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

A patient 21-hydroxylase deficiency displays virilization and a high lab value of 17-oh-progesterone, what does that mean?
Non-classical CAH: Hi. That's the most common cause of non-classical congenital adrenal hyperplasia, non-classical CAH). Because of the sluggish enzymatic step mediated by 21-hydroxylase, adrenal androgens are made via side pathways. In women, these can cause virilization. The treatment is low dose dexamethasone to suppress the pituitary drive of the adrenals. Good luck! ...Read more
