Possibly: Barium is notorious for being the worst part of the endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures. Symptoms as you describe are frequent. While it is less common to persist as long as you have, it is still likely. Of course, depending on what was done the symptoms could reflect a problem with a biopsy for example or an underlying, separate problem. If it gets worse or you get a fever, present to your doc. ...Read more

Barium: Barium rarely causes allergic reactions, but can be very constipating. Usually an additive in the barium helps avoid constipation. Perhaps you can ask your physician to prescribe a vigorous laxative schedule for you instead of canceling the study. However if you're already severely constipated, you should get advice from your physician on what to do about the test. ...Read more

Barium: Barium leaves the body through the intestine in the feces. However, because barium is constipating, some patients may have trouble getting the barium out of the intestine. How safe is barium sulfate suspension for CT scan? I have SVT, high blood press, chronic constipation & idiopathic hives. Any precautions to take?
Keep it moving: And of those issues, only constipation would seem to be of concern. Barium itself can be constipating; it even can solidify stool. Yeah. So be consistent with the treatment you've been prescribed - (don't overdo, tho) preferably fiber, psyllium, PEG (miralax) etc. rather than stimulant laxatives. Keep it moving till the barium's outta there. ...Read more

Can't see a connection: Between your barium swallow and your sinuses! Allergy shots do help most of the time if prescribed and given by an expert, it will take time though to feel a difference, other prescribed meds should administered too till the effect of allergy shots start, can take up to a year to feel a difference, if not improved, you don't continue, mind you there is around 10-20 % failure rate, good luck ...Read more
