Is bariatric surgery safe? I'm 5'6" 213 with a lot of muscle due to weight training. Just can't lose the fat. Am i weight loss resistant? Help!
Weight loss surgery: Two answers: first, bariatric surgery is safer than its ever been. It is safer than heart operations, safer than hip operations. The death rate today for a gastric bypass is 1 in 900. 1 in 2000 for a lap band. But, at your height and weight, your bmi is 34.3 and you wouldn't qualify for the surgical procedures. I am sorry. Today, a bmi > 35 with medical complications of obesity is required. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Will I lose weight if I portion control my fatty foods instead of striving to constantly eat healthy?
Good fats are impt: Fat has a bad reputation. You need good fats for your body to function well which are olive oil, avocado, nuts/seeds. You don't need fried foods or man made fats at all. You still always need to understand portion size since it is so distorted in the USA. Watch FED UP documentary for more info. I need your help , i have eaten a part of a plastic fork accidentaly while i was eating . it's been 5 days without any symptoms .
No need to worry: At this time (>48 hrs) the piece of plastic you accidentally swallowed has most likely passed out of your body in the stool without causing any harm. As long as you don't have pain when you swallow, these small objects don't cause any problems. I once had a patient that swallowed a razor blade and it passed without causing any severe bleeding or infection! (But don't try that!) ...Read more

What part of a bladder TAC is plastic? My Dr says it's punctured into my vagina. Best option/surgeon to repair?
Prolapse surgery?: I think you are referring to a previous surgery on your bladder that may have eroded into the vagina. I am not certain if this is what you are asking. If so it depends on what type of material was used and what previous surgery was done. Likely you are referring to some type of vaginal mesh. Some are easy to repair and some are hard.
