Is it possible to take only Plavix (clopidogrel) and not Aspirin after coronary stenting?I have erosive gastritis and DES in LAD after heart a, need 3 more stents.

Anti platelet Rx: We use dual antiplatelet therapy for at least 6 months to minimize stents occluding after placement. Usually either aspirin or plavix (clopidogrel) is continued later if no contraindication to that. The erosive gastritis is a significant problem and the appropriate step(s) in this case need to be considered with risks and benefits to the treatments by those with the most information about the patient. ...Read more

Yes.: Aspirin can cause erosive gastritis in some people. If you were told to stop it, don't start it again. Also, don't take ibuprofen, or naprosyn. CAD S/P STENT: CAD S/P STENT placement. Highly unusual in a young woman. You need a Hematology consult and full clotting screen. Yesterday I had a BM that looked like coffee grounds and also real long snake BM is this serious ? I take plavix (clopidogrel) and baby aspirin. Emilie

This is Serious: Black 'coffee ground' BM which also has characteristics of being long (which could be sticky/tarry) is concerning for bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract, especially in someone on 2 anti-platelet medications which 'thins' the blood. The medical term for black stool from blood is called melena. There are also other causes for black stools, but the worrisome cause needs to be evaluated. ...Read more

My father (75) had a brain stroke 10 months ago and he has been on plavix (clopidogrel) all this time. For how long should he stay with it? Can he pass to aspirin?

My father (75) had a brain stroke 10 months ago and he has been on plavix (clopidogrel) all this time. For how long should he stay with it? Can he pass to aspirin?

Prevention: Would not recommend aspirin, as the data shows relatively mediocre results unless he would take one full asa, 325mg four times daily, which could cause gastritis and bleeding. Based on research data, the most successful protection against a subsequent stroke comes from Aggrenox twice daily, and if it were my dad, i would consider this first. ...Read more

If vit k helps blood to clout then if you have stents and on plavix (clopidogrel) , aspirin would it causes artery blockage?

Vit K: The pathway of clotting where vit k works is different from the platelet pathway where Plavix (clopidogrel) and Aspirin work. While not disconnected, usually arterial clotting is more affected by the platelet pathway where Plavix (clopidogrel) and Aspirin work. ...Read more

I had stents before 2 years & iam already taking plavix and crestor (rosuvastatin) 20mg ( rousostatin), when can I stop plavix? & is plavix must taking with aspirin?

Check with your doc: Plavix (clopidogrel) duration after a stent is minimum 1 year by guideline recommendation, but individual cases require longer duration. This could be the case for multiple, or extremely long stented segment, bifurcation stenting (fork in the road), stenting in your left main, or in a previous bypass graft. Check with your cardiologist to see what optimal duration is in your particular case. ...Read more

My doctor prescribed clazol instead plavix (clopidogrel) and aspirin for me; what is the advantage if there is one?

My doctor prescribed clazol instead plavix (clopidogrel) and aspirin for me; what is the advantage if there is one?

Similar: Plavix (clopidogrel) and clazol both inhibit platelet aggregation. Plavix (clopidogrel) is associated with a slighly higher risk of lowering the platelet count than clazol. However, clazol is usually contraindicated in patients with class 3 or 4 heart failure. ...Read more
