Broke big toe on 8/12. Detached toenail. Skin is falling off in sheets from ALL toes on the foot. No cast. Walking boot,now surgical shoe. Why?

Depends: For a foot fracture, it depends on the type, severity, location, and medical history. If the fracture is non displaced and you're braced to off-load that area (with stability) than it should be fine.
