Soft stools: Fiber provides bulk to the stools but doesn't soften them much. Stool softener a like Colace have a mild effect. You should be taking stone fruits and their juices, consider PEG 3350 once or twice daily, milk of magnesia (magnesium hydroxide) once or twice daily.
