What should I do to it and approximately how long should I rest it? I have kicked a soccer ball not stretching properly and I feel my inner thigh muscle so tight from my knee to my hip. I feel lil contraction lifting my knee toward my chest
You: You are most likely having a severe muscle spasm. You can try ice, advil, (ibuprofen) and very gentle stretching. A physical therapist may be helpful. The other thing we always worry about with leg pain however I will mention, and that is a blood clot. If you have any history of clots, or have swelling, severe pain, increased pain when the leg is down, chest pain, or shortness of breath, then you must go to the er to evaluate it. ...Read more
I hav taken up swimming, basket ball & do stretching exs plus weight training. I wanna gain 2 inches. I'm 22 and 5'8''. Can I gain height now? Possibl
Growth likely ended: A 22 year old cannot grow taller because his bone's growth plates have fused (stopped growing). To look taller, one can choose properly designed clothing & shoes, and have good posture. Being confident, having good social skills, and a strong speaking voice is good. Vitamins, supplements, "special" foods, exercise, etc... will not make a person living in the U.S. taller (height here is genetic). ...Read more

Could be...: Plantar fascitis if the pains occur mainly in the heel area and even possibly the arch. It could also be generalized arthritis and a number of other possibilities. Take the insoles out of your shoes and replace them with ones that have more arch support. The one I recommend most is the spenco polysorb cross-trainer insole. If you don't need as much cushioning, the total support is also good. ...Read more

Need evaluation: A dislocation injury requires medical evaluation by an orthopedic surgeon, unless you want to live with a permanently deformed foot. The ankle is a very complicated joint, containing multiple bones ; tendons which must be in correct alignment and integrity for best function. I don't recommend relying on stretches at home, since they're not likely to help. ...Read more

I was doing yoga & suddenly got foot & knee pain. Its been 2 weeks & still the pain is same. When I did standing stretching exercise, it got better.?
Hard to say: There are multiple potential causes and usually a detailed exam can determine the cause. It would seem a little unusual to have injured your knee and foot at the same time (although it is possible), so one cause might be a sciatica. In sciatica, a nerve can be irritated in the back and cause pain running from the knee to the foot. Consider being seen. ...Read more

I am unable to dorsiflex my foot after a bad lateral sprain 7 weeks ago. Even with stretching and exercises, there is medial ankle pain. Why is this?
Hard to say: It is common to have stiffness in the ankle after a sprain even at 7 weeks. However there may be other injuries that are not immediately apparent at the time of injury, such as damage to the talus (ankle bone). It has been 8 days, I have a medial and lateral ankle sprain, unsure of grade but def 2/3. Swelling ankle like a golf ball, bruising and pain in my shin. My ankle is stiff, X-ray show no break, tried stretching did not work, is this normal?
Yes: The ankle will swell for quite some time. Ice several times daily, elevate the extremity and if you can safely take it, ibuprofen will help. The therapy will be most important. ...Read more
