IBS for over 10yrs, no matter what I eat, I always have really bad smelling stools & gas. Its embarrassing. Help?

Had really bad gas, bad smelling frequent soft stools for 2yrs. Taking probiotics and all symptoms gone. Was it than bacterial overgrowth syndrome?

What are the causes of very bad smelling flatulence and stool? I don't have diarrhea, but I am constipated. The gas has lasted for a couple weeks.
I'm sure you know..: ...that flatulence is normal; many consider it to be a sign of a healthy digestive tract. The usual gases, nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide, hydrogen and methane aren't too bad, but when sulfates are added, it smells worse. Usually means something is going on, so if it persists it would be a good idea to get it checked out, especially if there is any pain or problems with bowel movements for any length of time (like, say, 2 weeks).
