8 mos ago bad ankle sprain; Fx r/o. All ok but still swells significantly, esp after lots of walking. Will my ankle always do this? Is there a fix?
I think so.: Swelling that persists for more than three months may be a sign of trouble. A bone chip or bruised bone may be irritating synovium and make it secrete fluid. Elevate the ankle at night and use elastic ankle support in the morning and see if the swelling will go away after a while. If persist see a specialist. ...Read more

Have it evaluated.: Pain may last a long time following a foot or ankle injury. An x-ray can show if there is an underlying fracture. You may have a soft tissue injury if it is just a sprain and may have damaged the muscle, tendon, or ligaments in the area. Have it evaluated by a professional and get the appropriate treatment. ...Read more

How long will I be out of sports with either a grade 2 or 3 ankle sprain and two nondisplaced fibula fractures (I hurt my ankle 4wks ago; I'm 17 yrs)?
Minimally 12 weeks: Without a complete history of your injury and sports activity, the non-displaced fractures will take a minimum of 6-8 weeks to heal (assuming there are no complications in healing) and in general soft tissue injuries such as the an ankle sprain will be longer about 12 weeks (= 3 months). My heal is hurting what should I do? About 3 months ago I rolled my ankle on the tile falling from the stairs. I have been attending physical therapy. They said it was just an ankle sprain and my toes would get numb. Now my heal hurts so bad I can hardly
You absolutely should get it x-rayed to make sure you don't have a stress fracture.
That being said, your choice of the words "on fire" and "numb" make me suspect a nerve injury. Tarsal tunnel syndrome is a possibility, but this usually comes on gradually, not right after trauma. You may have a nerve impingement, or something called neuropraxia, which is when a nerve gets stretched suddenly, which you might have done when you fell.
Your first order of business is to get whatever is causing your pain diagnosed. You can either go to a podiatrist or an orthopedic surgeon, have an x-ray, and see about the condition of the nerves in your foot & ankle.
Good luck! ...Read more

Feet get red after walking. Veins buldging. Left foot and ankle discoloured since ankle sprain over three years ago. How do I prevent feet from redness?
Blood vessels.: There is a host of reasons why your feet get red and the veins bulge after walking.
