Can taking antibiotics before urinalysis give false negative.Did a urinalysis today and nurse said my urine was clear. I took 3 macrobids yesterday.
Possibly: The macrobids would likely make growing a germ out of the specimin hard to do.Yet if you had a real UTI that had only a day of treatment, there should have been a bunch of white cells around and some evidence of bacteria on the urinalysis. Many docs treat uti's in adults based on this urinary debris pattern rather than wait for a culture. You may have another reason for your discomfort. ...Read more

And cultures may not needed as long as uncomplicated with symptoms and a Positive UA ...Read more

10 days keflex for strep b group uti, still symtomatic and lukocytes in urine (bladder pressure/freq urinate/back pain), now on cipro, (ciprofloxacin) what's going on?
Cystitis: You need to see a urologist and be fully evaluated. Sounds as if you may have upper urinary tract infection, in which case evaluation for some anatomic abnormality may be warranted, along with a careful assessment of the antibiotic therapy. Grp b strep should be quite sensitive to penicillin derivatives. Keflex levels may not be sufficient to deal with this. See a urologist. ...Read more

Been having epididymitis for 2 months. Not chlamydia and urine cultures come back negative. Already took doxycycline, cipro (ciprofloxacin) and Zithro. What is it?
Doubt epididymitis: Epididymitis doesn't persist for 2 months. It causes enlargement and tenderness of a single testicle, almost never both; and doesn't cause ongoing testicular pain for this long. I doubt you have epididymitis. Non-response to those antibiotics is strong evidence you have no infection of any kind. Suspect chronic pelvic pain syndrome (see excellent Wikipedia article). Nothing harmful! Good luck. ...Read more
