What can the cause of Bacteremia & low immune system if nothing was found but 3 bacteria & 1 Fungi in my blood caused me to go septic?
Blood cultures: The question I think you're asking is "what germ" caused u to become ill-- which is an open question because it sounds like 4 organisms were isolated in ur blood cultures. Blood is supposed to be sterile and although possible it's very unlikely u really had 4 organisms floating around in ur blood. This is what we call "contamination" so we may never know. If u have more info, maybe can answer this ...Read more
Hi after a infected spider bite in 6/ 2011 i had lymph # of 3.1 , lymph % of 30' then in 8/2011 it raised to 3.2 and lymph % 37. Rest if CBC normal. Ct last month shied several 1 CM nodes. Scared?
NOT TO WORRY,: Your lymphocyte percentage is within normal limit, though lymphocyte % doesn't have to do anything with an infected spider bite 2 1/2 year ago. 1 cm lymph node enlargement is not also an important factor here. As long as the lymph nodes are not enlarging, not to worry. Your doc will know why s/he advised ct, may be for some other reason! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Resect if possible: Liver metastases are an unfortunate consequence of some cancers. Sometimes they are can be removed with surgery if the patient can tolerate it. Swollen feeling & 1 slightly swollen tonsil on left side of jaw since Jan. DR's blood tests & CT scan are normal. No feeling of large lymph nodes or infection. Is there something that tonsil could be?
Biopsy: If the tonsil is truly enlarged and is causing symptoms it can be due to infection, the presence of a squamous Ca lesion or lymphoma. A H&N exam can easily tell the difference in appearance between the normal tonsil and the enlarged one and at that time a recommendation of bx or not would be made. Blood tests and CT scan frequently do not detect suspicious changes. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Very different: Both types of diabetes are characterized by high blood glucose levels. Type i diabetes is caused by a failure of the islet cells in the pancreas to produce insulin. This is sometimes called Insulin resistance. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I guess that perioprotect would need to be used 3 x's a day since 3 meals. I think bacteria reforms after one hour. So, what is its real value?
Local control: It's similar to when you have an infection, you don't have to take antibiotics every hour in order for it to be effective. The biggest difference is that with perioprotect you are controlling the biofilm and bacterial colonies under the gum line and in-between the teeth at a local level rather than systemically. ...Read more
Depends upon type.: In most instances, urine should not contain any bacteria, and the presence of bacteria might indicate an infection. I just had a repeat urinalysis because I was menstruating on the first one. First one showed negative occult blood +3 and the second urinalysis a couple of weeks later showed negative occult blood +1, no bacteria seen. What could be the causes?
All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, the 3+ in the first test may be due to contamination with menstrual blood. The 1+ in the second one may not be significant.
