I got tested for HIV which came back nonreactive. Does that mean I dint have herpes either? I haven't had an outbreak, it's been atleast 7 months

Herpes and HIV: I may be missing something in your question but an HIV test will not ever also test for herpes and vice versa. They are different tests. If you know you have herpes why are you wanting to test again? ...Read more

How long does tingling happen before first outbreak of herpes. I get itching neck pain lower back pain now tingling for over 4 days now?

How long does tingling happen before first outbreak of herpes. I get itching neck pain lower back pain now tingling for over 4 days now?

This isn't herpes: For initial herpes, usually no tingling before sores appear. Tingling is mainly a symptom of recurrent herpes; in that case, it lasts only a day or two before the outbreak itself shows up. Your symptoms don't sound at all like herpes, which doesn't cause tingling without sores and rarely if ever causes low back pain. So good news, this isn't herpes. See your doctor if symptoms continue. Good luck! ...Read more

I just got a routine checkup and it came back with a result of HSV II igG 1.00 ratio. I've neverhad an outbreak of genital herpes. What does this mean?

Possible exposure: This is a borderline positive result, so I'd suggest a repeat in 3 months just to confirm. It is quite possible to have been exposed to and acquire HSV2 without ever having an outbreak. You may also get very mild outbreaks so you need to be alert for the possibility. Your biggest risk is that you could be infectious without realizing it, so you may want to consider prophylactic treatment. ...Read more

If my blood test and culture came back positive for hsv1 on my genital area does that make it the same as having genital2 herpes? Can hsv1 turn into hsv2? can I give a new partner herpes simplex 1 without having an outbreak present?

No. No. Yes.: Herpes 1 cannot turn into 2, nor vice versa. A person is not immune to herpes 1 unless he has caught herpes 1, and likewise, he is not immune to herpes 2 unless he has caught herpes 2. That means having herpes 1 does not protect you against herpes 2, and vice versa. That also means having herpes 1 on one part of the body should prevent you from getting new herpes 1 on a different part of the body. ...Read more
