They are supposed to keep your spine straight, and they are bothered sometimes with sitting or bending forward. When you lie flat on your back, does it help? Fibromyalgia?: If MRI if the spine was normal, and chest CT also, then very unlikely to be serious. Fibromyalgia can cause upper back pain and tenderness and testing is normal. Perhaps a referral to rheumatologist would help. Good luck. ...Read more

Could be...: If it's in the center of the back and it's more painful or tender when you touch it then it's worth getting seen for it to make sure it's not an infection of the spine or other suspicious lesion. Watch for any leg weakness or numbness.

Depends.....: At your age it is likely to be muscular in nature. Certain positions can trigger muscle spasms in some people. Try a heating pad and gentle massage. If people have herniated discs the pain can be worse with bending forward, but that would be uncommon in your age.
