The space inside that tube , the lumen, is considered to be outside of the body. When we bleed into that space ...Read more

Blood may be from...: Blood on toilet paper can be from hemorrhoids with or without constipation. Depending on the age of the patient, the doctor might also worry about polyps or colon cancer. Certain infectious "dysentery" diarrhea illnesses have bloody stools. Is it normal to have major bloating a day after a rectal exam w/ lower back pain? Impacted w/ blood in stool, external/internal hemorrhoids, loose stool
Depends: I would need to know more about your hx, and what exactly was done during the rectal exam. If you had invasive type of procedure--lower GI series where a barium enema is introduced into anus--or a flexible sigmoidoscopy/colonoscopy--then cramping or bloating are to be expected for 4-24 hrs. If you are having further difficulties, consult with dr who ordered, or performed tests. Good luck. ...Read more

I'm sorry to hear: that you swallowed some glass, I assume inadvertently. If it has been more than a day, it's likely that the glass has exited your stomach and entered your intestine. Glass is difficult, if not impossible to spot on an X-ray. If the piece was smaller than an inch or so, it likely hasn't hung up, and as long as you feel well and don't have any bleeding, you're likely ok. Check with your doctor.. ...Read more
