Why do I have severe back pain at night, relieved only after urinating. At night back hurt near middle of spine, and when I inhale, for months now?

Spinal Stenosis: It is certainly possible that the pressure of a full bladder is irritating some of the lower nerves in your spine and relieved only after urinating. In addition the diagnosis of spinal stenosis can cause axial or midline spine pain. The connection w/breathing is not so clear. Thus you should see a Spine Specialist for ongoing evaluation, PT and consideration of other treatments that may be indicated ...Read more

Why do I have back pain only at night when I lay down flat?

Why do I have back pain only at night when I lay down flat?

Back pain: Usually while lying on the back, the lumbar spine arches a bit more, which creates more pressure on the small facet joints in the spine causing pain if they are inflamed or degenerated.
Try a pillow under the knees which will reduce this arching and help relieve some pain. Long term procedures can help such as radiofrequency to numb up the joints. Pain physicians who are properly trained can help. ...Read more

Every month during my period and a week after I get lower back pain and stiffness, only at night time, it wakes me up the pain is that bad. Thanks?

Night pain, not good: I am always worried when pain wakens my patients. Although it may not be serious, and related to a common condition, before assuming it is due to your back, I would suggest you have your gynecologist evaluate you for conditions in the ovaries or surrounding organs that could cause this. Endometriosis should be looked for as well. ...Read more

I am bleeding but its like really light and I have back pain at night what could it be? Its only like a lil bit and I am kinda scared and don't kno what to do...

By: By bleeding I assume you mean vaginal bleeding? Prolonged vaginal bleeding not related to your period is called dysfunctional uterine bleeding. Depending on your age, there are a variety of things that could be causing it such as a hormone imbalance, annovulation, pregnancy, pelvic inflammatory disease, uterine fibroids, trauma, menopause, inherited bleeding disorders, and rarely, cancer. You should contact your doctor for an evaluation. It's important that the cause of your bleeding be found in order to give you the proper treatment to stop it. If you are bleeding from elsewhere, also give your doctor a call. Good luck! ...Read more

Progressive, extremely severe thoracic back pain at night, for months. Tried chiro, massage, accu, nsaids, antacids. MRI w/o contrast was normal. Ideas?

Diagnose: What you really need now is a diagnosis. Why would a 30 yo have sever back pain with a normal MRI? It suggests it may be non musculoskeletal. Things like pancreatitis, ulcer disease, and a variety of medical conditions can cause back pain. You may need to start over with a detailed exam and further studies to explain the source of your pain. Then appropriate treatment can be given. ...Read more

I get abdominal cramps and low back pain at night for a few mins (no period). I'm tired sometimes with no doing anything, hungry every 3-4hr am I preg?

Easy to check: Urine pregnancy tests are OTC and not terribly expensive. That is the place to start, IMO. If not pregnant, I recommend getting some blood and urine labs at the local clinic (Blood count, metabolic panel, urinalysis, etc) to start to find an answer. Hope you feel better soon! ...Read more

How can I avoid back pain in the am? Can't afford new mattress but joined a gym. Toss and turn all night. Been a couple of years, worse lately.

Sleep: Strengthening the muscles in the back is difficult as we see our front at the gym and we are slumped over things in our work daily. Yoga exercises can significantly strengthen the back. A flat surface is best for sleep. You could try sleeping on the floor to see if this changes things. If it does put plywood under your mattress to increase the firmness. Happy sleeping! ...Read more

I am having back pain during night after toilet in the morning I am get relax what may be the reason?

Odd: A mid-twenties male who complains of back pain in bed & relief after morning defecation presents an odd set of symptoms.
