I have sciatica nerve pain in my lower back my thigh is numb and my hip is really bothering me and my right leg is weak and my butt on the right side?

Stretch/Rest: Most likely you have some version of sciatica. Sciatica is a symptom from a pinched nerve in your back. What nerve is it? No one knows unless imaging is done. This is typically done after conservative care is exhausted. Rest, stretching, learning core strengthening exercises and using nsaids to help are the best ways to help back pain. The back of my left thigh is numb after a night of drinking. I haven't been drinking that long, but I have been drinking the past 3 nights. What's up?

Pressure on a nerve: Numbness of a limb (often w/tingling and occasionally w/weakness) can occur after prolonged pressure on one of the nerves that supply part of an arm or leg. This is common after drinking enough alcohol to sleep more heavily than usual. Sedated sleeping with alcohol can prevent noticing discomfort and waking partially to switch position. No way to tell how long it will last. Often days. ...Read more

Just the back of my left thigh goes numb when I sleep in certain positions with my leg bent. Goes away when I straighten out leg. Nerve issue?

Yes, Nerve Problem: In the back of the knee joint, there is a depressed area called popliteal fossa. The sciatic nerve becomes tibial nerve in the popliteal fossa. It seems that the popliteal fossa is getting compressed b/c of sleeping with your legs bent. This is compressing the sciatic and tibial nerves, resulting in numbness of the back of your thigh. Thanks. ...Read more

Three months ago I had a left hip resurfacing. I'm expierenceing numbness on the back of that knee. It goes from the back of the knee up my thigh?

Thigh numbness: Details matter. When did it start in relation to the surgery...Immediately or later. If later, it may be related to jeans or a belt or a tool belt that are too tight, compressing the lateral cutaneous nerve of the thigh. See: http://en. Wikipedia. Org/wiki/lateral_cutaneous_nerve_of_thigh for details. I suggest you consult a neurologist, who tell better which nerve (s) might be involved. ...Read more

Back: Back pain can be debilitating and signficantly can affect a person's quality of life. The only way you will know for sure what is going on is to have a complete evaluation by your primary care provider and/or orthopedic specialist.
You could be dealing with a sprain, herniated disc, sciatica, scoliosis, lordosis, etc.
In the meantime try an anti-inflammatory like advil (ibuprofen) or Ibuprofen and try stretching every morning and evening. Your doctor may refer you to physical therapy and/or a pain management specialist based on his/her findings.

What could be the cause of a pain w/numbness in the left pelvic (back to front pubic) area w/ stabbing pain where torso meets thigh?

Back lesion as cause: With a pinched nerve supplying that area of the body, due to arthritis, slip disk, injury or space occupying lesions in the spine. Another common problem is meralgia paraesthetica, where a nerve to the front & side of the thigh gets trapped under a tight ligament against the iliac bone (pelvis). What are lower back pain, & numbness in right buttock and right thigh symptoms of?

High lumbar disc: The combination of back pain, with numbness/pain radiating into front of thigh but not past the knee suggests a disc herniation l2-3 or l3-4. This is a <10% occurrence of all hnp. Other causes like piriformis syndrome (pressure on sciatic nerve due to pressure from hip muscle), or problems with the hip can also mimic these symptoms. Based upon age, hnp or piriformis most likely. ...Read more

I have a dull aching pain in my lower back (left side) I have numbness and tingling in my left thigh down to my knee.?

Unpinch the nerve.: Sounds like you have a disk herniation. As long as the pain is tolerable, and you do not have progressive increasing weakness, or lose the ability to control the bladder or bowels, the vast majority of disk herniations can be treated without surgery. I recommend you get a good exam by a spine specialist, then follow instructions on use of medications, stretchs and activities modifications. ...Read more

This: This should be evaluated as soon as possible. The fact that he has problems on both lower extremities at the same time is highly suggestive of spinal cord involvement. Pelvic or perineal pain is suggestive of a cauda equina syndrome. That is problems around the L1 level of the spine. Collapsing while walking is a red flag in my book. The fact that he is 60 brings with is the possibility of a carcinoma with metastasis to the spine. See a doctor as soon as possible and get an MRI of the spine urgently. ...Read more

Get this evaluated: You describe involvement of the S-1 nerve root, and now it appears your symptoms are progressing. If you have a damaged disc, there may be increasing compression of nerve roots, and if this is case, you have risk of increased weakness, involvement of bladder, and perhaps trouble with urinary function. This is not a situation to delay. Contact a surgeon, and decide on therapeutic intervention. ...Read more
