Itchy: Likely a bite. Sometimes they are red and sometimes not. Cool compress, benadryl (diphenhydramine) and see if improves. Another thought would be infection, but this would likely be tender. ...Read more

Possible causes include swollen lymph nodes, benign skin cysts, salivary gland swelling, congenital cysts, or rare tumors. "Normal" is relative: In cases like this. It's "normal" for lymph nodes to be tender & swollen when they're trying to keep a localized infection from entering the blood stream.
