Need an evaluation: You have a knee Ed fusion, and swelling in the back is a Baker cyst, and that is compressing on certain structures. There are other things I can mimic this. Protection!: You know the joke "Doc, it hurts when I do this." and Doc says "Don't do that! Well, for now try not to do those things. Also use a good knee brace to protect/imobolize the knee until you can see a doctor for an exam. Rest will help whatever it is to stop further irritation damage. Lumbar disk disease: This is the approximate distribution of a sciatica type syndrome. If you have a computer go to google and type in dermatome map. If you look at the dermatome MAP you can see the distribution of where the nerves come from the supply the specific areas mentioned. If this is that symptomatic you probably need to go in and see your doctor and get a MRI of the lumbar spine for further evaluation. ...Read more

The most dangerous thing would be a blood clot in your leg, typically occurs after travel or sedentary lifestyle and you get swelling in leg.
