Safe to take GNC Natra Sleep with zoloft (sertraline)? Natra sleep has Passion flower, lemon balm, valerian root, chamomile, and L- Theanine in it. Safe?
Yes: It is quite common in herbal medicine to give multiple herbs in combination and, being 3 of the most widely used herbs in the ayurvedic tradition, holy basil, ashwagandha and curcumin are commonly used together. Passionflower is quite safe to combine with these. While combining pharmaceuticals together often creates worrisome interactions, most herbs combine well and synergistically. ...Read more
Not Bach: Probably classical homeopathy would be more helpful with restless leg syndrome than bach flower remedies. I suggest consulting a homeopathic physician in your area. The american institute of homeopathy is a group of physician homeopaths, and is older than the ama. The site has a search function, through which you can find homeopaths in your locale: http://www.Homeopathyusa.Org/. ...Read more

Can a person taking 8mg Suboxone for opiate withdrawals also take St. Johns Wort, Passion Flower and/or GABA supplements to help with anxiety?
Talk to provider: I'd resist these products until getting a clear 'go-ahead' from the provider who prescribed the Suboxone. It can be dangerous when taken w/ any other CNS depressant (GABA) and St. John's Wort can lessen its' effectiveness - so discuss it and probably don't. The Suboxone alone may reduce your anxiety and CBT therapy is a safe, good option to learn good life skills. Best wishes! ...Read more

See a neurologist: You can try the tea, but track whether it worsens or improves your headache by keeping a daily headache log (timing, severity, duration, frequency, characteristics). Take the log to a neurologist. There are both over the counter and prescription remedies that might be suggested to you by a neurologist. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/migraine.html ...Read more

No single best: Just like there is no best single drug for anxiety, there is no single best herb. We are all unique biochemically and a drug or herb that might work great for one person may not help another at all. Of the 3 you mention kava causes the most side effects. You can try passion flower ; valerian to see which works better for you, but holy basil (tulsi), rhodiola and l-theanine are also worth trying. ...Read more

Will a sleep aid with melatonin, valerian extract, hops - humulus lupulus, passionflower, chamomile have any affect on the birth control pill?
Unknown: That's one of the problems with botanicals, there aren't any controlled studies with which to reference when it comes to drug interactions. I recommend you start with the birth-control and look for drug interactions on the package insert. Even with proper use of oral birth control pills there still is about 1% failure rate. ...Read more
