Babys Leg Turned Blue From Crying
See your doctor: Many infants between 9 months and 3 years old will have breath holding spells where they turn "blue" and can faint from holding their breath. These spells occur in response to pain or anger - always. Some kids will have some blueness around the lips (not the lips themselves) when crying and this can be normal. I would have my child seen to be sure it is a breath holding spell & nothing concerning. ...Read more
My 4 month old baby gets histerical once I put his infant carrier in the car. He won't stop crying turning blue and shaking. What should I do?
Keep him safe in car: At four months he is too young for a real temper tantrum. While he may get agitated by the car seat's restrictive environment, his safety in the car is paramount for him to be transported in any other way in the car. You may want to have someone else sit beside him not to make him so lonely. ...Read more
I fell holding my friends 8 month old baby. We went down pretty hard. I got rug burn on my knee. We fell onto tile. He started crying right away.
Fall: You did not say if the baby was hurt at all. Crying after an episode like this may be just from the sudden movement. If the baby is acting normal has no evidence of injury, did not hit its head, is moving all it's extremities, then the chances of anything significant is small. If this is not the case or if you have concerns take the baby to the ER to be evaluated ...Read more

My 8 year old son just woke up with severe leg pain, which happens often. He is crying. Suggestions?
Not unusual.: It usually helps to rub up and down on the shin and calf muscles. Also, ibuprofen if lasting more than 10-15 minutes. It seems more common after an increase in exercise, in kids with flat feet, or those who tend to sit with legs under them, but no studies to confirm. Keep well hydrated with water. If pain is present during the day, get it checked out. ...Read more

Depends on cause: Is the pain from arthritis? Bad shoes? Heel spurs? Claudication? Myositis? Fatigue because of the rigors of your job combined with obesity? Start with a basic exam from your pcp. When the cause has been narrowed down, s/he can either take care of the problem or direct you to the specialist/treatment that you need. Good luck. No one should have to deal with constant pain. ...Read more

I have rested my legs as I over exercised. I rested for 2 weeks, done exercise today now the pain and cramp is back im crying cause im fed up help?
Not typical: I am not sure what you mean by overexercised but in normal circumstances you should be recovered by now and you should not expect to have pain and cramping that brings you to tears. That suggests that you may be performing the exercise incorrectly or there may be some other issue. If you can confirm you are exercising properly then speak with your medical provider about other causes. ...Read more
Woke up w/excruciating pain in right upper outer thigh. Was screaming and crying. Could not move leg or stand. Still sore 19 hours later. What is this?
Go to ER: It sounds like you need to visit an orthopaedic surgeon for a physical exam. Your diagnosis depends on the spot of the pain and the mechanism of any injuries you may have sustained. What kind of physical activity you have been doing, including any trauma, will help lead to the diagnosis, however, a physical exam is the best diagnostic tool. With pain that severe, I would seek immediate care. ...Read more

My 2 year old has woken up a couple of times crying her leg hurt. Last night, she kept crying her foot hurt. She walks fine and doesn't complain during the day. What could it be?
Limb pain in kids: The so-called "growing pain" is quite common in young children and often a cause of great distress to parents. The pain usually occurs in the legs--thigh, knee, mid shin, ankle areas and generally manifest during inactive hours--sleeping, sitting around/watching tv etc...Gently massage the area for a few minutes, distract her a bit and she will be fine. Take her to see doc to make sure. Good luck. ...Read more
My 4 year old is crying that she feels hot and her legs hurt. I checked her temp and its 97.9. But her head feels really hot and sweaty.
Recheck temp.: I'm sorry your child is not feeling well. If she is sweating, her body is definitely trying to cool her core temperature, which can be elevated from heavy exercise or reaction to an infection. It is hard to get reliable temps orally on 4 year olds and there can be discrepancy with temporal & ear thermometers. Give her liquids to drink and rest. If legs hurt, ok to give Tyllenol or Motrin. ...Read more

Should doctor help me on and off table in pain so bad & crying dr did nothing but cause more pain by pushing my legs up w/me on stomach.?
I am not sure.: Compassion is certainly a desirable trait for a physician. I wonder if the physician was observing to determine what you were capable of doing without assistance. I am also wondering if the doctor was performing a portion of his medical evaluation when he pushed your legs upward. Some of the medical examination techniques that are done can cause pain. The doctor can be assessing range of motion>. ...Read more
My newborn (almost 1 MO) hasn't pooped in two days and seems to be in pain. Crying and drawing his legs up. Eating and peeing fine. What to do?
Normal in some: Your typical breast fed baby can have a little poo smear every feeding or one giant blowout every 7-10 days.Formula babies go more often and daily. If soft, I don't consider it constipation. Babes do lots of leg drawing and fuss for no particular reason, but the process may help push food along. As long as baby wets every 6 hours or more I would consider things within the range of normal ...Read more

Anxiety: Obviously you are very anxious and this is leading to tachycardia (with palpitation) and perhaps hyperventilation (with tingling) try to find a quiet place and do relaxation techniques: take a slow deep breath over several seconds, hold it for 7 seconds then exhale slowly through your mouth over 5-7 min while listening to your breath as you exhale, do it for 10 min every hour until you relaxed ...Read more

Common enough: Penile erection in any male-esp prolonged erection, called priapism-can be very uncomfortable and painful. Common but not as painful in small children.Try to get child to relax by being closely held for comfort and trying to get child's attention on a toy or something else.
