Part of life: Yeast is around us in the environment & by later infancy at least 5% of the dry weight of poo is yeast. I have a rash on the corona of my penis and the head. I've been treating as a yeast infection I was just wondering what arevthe signs of the treatment working?

Rash goes away.: If the medicine works, the rash will go away, usually within 10 days. If you have not seen any improvement after three to five days, get seen by a doctor to be sure you do have a fungal infection. There are other causes of rashes besides yeast. I have a rash on the head and around the rim of my penis. No itch. No skin raised. Mild soreness. I think it might be a yeast infection? Treatment?

See a doctor: Genital skin problems are quite common and there are too many possibilities to make even an educated guess. No STD is a likely cause of such a rash, but that's about all that can be said. See a doctor -- and avoid any self treatment before you are seen, which could make diagnosis more difficult. ...Read more

My baby develop yeast rash on his neck, back and buttock for about a month now what can I do to treat it?

May not be yeast!: That pattern is more typical of seborrheic dermatitis. "yeast" medicines won't help, but anti-inflammatory ("cortisone" related) creams will. If your own doc is having trouble with this, you might see a pediatric dermatologist. Keep in mind that to diagnose your infant accurately, we'd need to know his age, health status, & what has and hasn't worked. Actually seeing the rash helps us too! ...Read more

A: A rash that has been treated with all these therapies is very difficult to make suggestions for further therapies without seeing the rash. I would have expected a typical diaper dermatitis due to yeast to have cleared with the ketoconazole. I would be hesitant to use a stronger steroid under a diaper. I would suggest making an appointment with your pediatrician or a dermatologist. Emergency room doctors are generally not use to treating diaper rashes. Rashes just have to be seen to diagnose accurately and treat appropriately. ...Read more
