If baby is healthy,: growing & developing normally, most likely you go in, pick her up &/or feed her when she night-cries. Wean her to a cup. Set a regular bedtime & routine: read, soothe, brush her teeth & put her in her own crib in her own room drowsy, but awake, to learn to self-calm for sleep. When you consistently ignore night-crying, it increases at first, then stops. See HealthyChildren.org for graded ignoring. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My 6wk old baby fusses all night & sleeps daytime & often needs waking up 4 hourly during the day but hardly sleeps at night. Normal? Formula fed baby
Flipped pattern: This is common to parents who believe they should let baby sleep during the day if they had a bad night. Babies are pattern creatures and this continues until you stop it. Doctor to evaluate: A ten month-old baby who starts crying hourly at night has a problem and should see his doctor. The problem could be ear pain, throat ulcers, head ache, tummy pain, tight clothes, fever, or something else that's preventing him from staying asleep. He may be starting a new viral or bacterial illness. If he is much better in the morning, that is reassuring, but his doctor needs to evaluate him. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My 3-month-old sleeps 6-9 hrs straight at night. During the day, he's alert and smiley and nurses every 2-3 hrs. Should i wake him up at night to eat?
Baby: Babies sleep so many hours that the night alone would not be enough. Plus, they require frequent feeding, so they wake up often. And on top, they are slow eaters (they are very smart on this!). So it is ok. Babies sleep only when they feel like. Gradually, they grow up to adjust to a more normal (for adults) pattern. ...Read more

My 2 month old sleeps for 7 hours at night. She never wake up for feeding. Should I forcefully wake her up and feed?
Let babies sleep...: If she is happy and growing, leave her alone. After 3 months of age, parents can give a feeding at 10 p.m. or thereabouts, and expect the baby to sleep 6 hours. If a normal baby sleeps 6-8 hours and is fine the next day, she'll eat enough during the day to make up for sleeping all night (and parents will sleep well at night, too). A normal 2-month baby sleeping well at night means lucky parents. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Put him on his back in his crib with no loose bedding or items when he is drowsy, but awake to learn to self-calm to sleep. Babies cry out during light sleep; it's easier to wait till he's fully awake before feeding if you put him in his own room. See tips on healthy children.org. Play during daylight; minimize interaction at night. ...Read more
