Possibilities: The "twitching" could be relatively benign, and if there is suspicion of seizure activity, an EEG would be indicated. Likely hiccups: Some have speculated that the close position of the babies stomach to the diaphragm causes a rubbing that triggers the hiccups.This is common & generally continues on through the first months after birth. Unlikely the issue: The brain of an infant is constantly sending out random messages to the various muscle groups to flex or extend arms, legs and otherwise "move".This preserves the muscle tone and size until the baby can move them on purpose. I know you're probably worried if she's having seizures or something more serious like that. There's an entity called Infantile Spasms but she doesn't quite fit the criteria for that either. Twitching: Babies have an immature nervous system, and it's hard for them to control their reflexes and responses to stimuli such as noise and temperature.To make sure erratic movements are benign, lightly hold down the arm or leg that's twitching.
