Baby Turns Beet Red While Crying
When my 7 mo baby girl cries, her eyebrows become red and red specks form on her forehead. It normalises when she calms down. Is it ok?
Yes: You are well describing a phenomenon that happens with hemangiomas. These typically are worse when the child is 18 months to 24 months. They typically go away by themselves at 2 to 3 years. The only time that we worry about them is when they are close to the eyes, nose or mouth. Have your physician examine your child to make sure these are not a concern. ...Read more
Yes: Many babies find bright lights (or loud sounds) upsetting. If you baby is fine under ordinary light in the house, and the eyes look normal, there's probably nothing to worry about. I do recommend you mention this to your pediatrician at the next routine visit to be sure. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Constipation: It is not uncommon for a full term, otherwise healthy, 16 wk d baby to temporarily become flushed while straining to stool. As long as baby is feeding and growing it is not usually a problem. Your pediatrician can assess stool pattern and counsel you on ways to soften the stool at your next appointment. ...Read more
My formula fed foster baby has realy dark green almost black poop and its really runny..Is this normal ? Also he was a drug and alcohol exposed baby
Yes: Dark green/almost black stools are indeed normal color for some infants. If the stools are totally black, ask doc to check for hidden blood. But just very dark green are okay, as are the various yellow, greens, oranges and browns. Bad color is pure white, totally black, or red bloody. ( purple would be weird too, but i've seen that only after purple birthday cake!) also, runny is good for baby poo. ...Read more
Why does my one week old baby lips turn purple especially when she drinks her bottles it sucks on my nipple or pacifier
Management: I agree that this may resolve with time, but it is important to have her checked. At your pediatrician's office, I would suggest a pulse oximetry to determine oxygen saturation, while she is feeding. Your pediatrician will exam her to detect any problems with her cardio pulmonary system. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Because he likes to: Eye contact is how we make connections with other people. There are diff levels of eye contact, & also the babies proper level of eye focus is about the distance from mom's elbow 2 mom's face. We all want to love & be loved, & eye contact is one way for us to do that before we speak. If you are looking at the eyes you can't help then to look at the face, & a focus of nonverbal communication. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Wat to do with baby crying then suddenly stops breathing turn dark red and whole body turns hard for like 5-8 sec.
Baby is 6 weeks old and been fussy all day. Not wanting to eat much, cries when eats. Poop is mustard/seedy w/ dark mucus and a tiny blood. Concern?
This may be fixable: This is the time and behavior associate with colic that is common. No one really knows the cause but I believe there are many different causes given a young infant digestive tract. Stools sound normal. As a normal stage, fussy times begin between 3 to 6 weeks, resulting in a unconsololable baby between 6/9 pm of age. These episodes usually last for one ...Read more
My 6 week old baby sometimes cries & gets frustrated while breastfeeding or drinking from a bottle. He's hungry but seems like something is bothering him?

3 wks old, very fussy, turns red when it's time to pass bowel movement... Could it be her milk She drinks Enfamil Newborn. What milk should I switch 2?
Hold on...: It is not unusual for babies to strain when passing bowel movements..they are trying to learn to relax certain areas while tensing others. It's a new skill. The more important detail is how is the baby's stool? Is it soft/mushy or hard little balls? Switching milk is not something that you should do without speaking to the pediatrician first.Let them know what's going on so they can guide you best ...Read more

Why does my urine turn dark very shortly after consuming coffe even when chasing it down with water?
Dehydrated: My guess is that your urine would be dark even before drinking the coffee. Fluid intake of any sort shortly before urinating would not effect the color of your urine, since that's the urine that's already in the bladder. Do increase your fluid intake - consider at least 2 additional quarts/day. Hope that helps. ...Read more
My 20 mo Old rolls his eyes back as hes falling asleep & occ. when drinking bottle laying down. A few times it's when swallowing food. Is this normal?
My 3week old seems healthy, good checkups, but when he sleeps he turns bright red, his whole body, or purple. Easy breathing. What could cause this?
Over heated: Babies are not able to sweat. If they get too warm, their body will try to release heat by dilating vessels in the skin. This makes them turn red and warm to touch. If they are just dilating veins due to immature vascular tone, the body part can look purple or blue. This is often hands and feet. It is called acrocyanosis and is a normal state of development. ...Read more
My 3 month old sons poop has turned dark brown with white chunks in it. He is formula fed enfamil with baby oatmeal in it. His stools have increased?
Brown is OK!: Baby poop is lots of different colors and can change from day to day for any baby. One day brown, one day yellow, one green. The worrisome colors are dark black after the first few days of life (cuz your first poop is blackish meconium), red poop or pure white poop. I suppose purple would be weird too! as his digestive tract matures, consistency will also vary. And yes, baby poop stinks! ...Read more
