Benadryl/Maalox: Mix equal parts of liquid Benadryl and maalox. Then take a q-tip and paint the mixture on to the sore areas. You can also give oral tylenol (acetaminophen) or Ibuprofen for pain relief. You don't mention age, but if old enough (like past 8 months) can let her lick on a popsicle for relief. Do not use any products containing aspirin. And people out there - ge your varicella vaccine on time so babies dont catch it! ...Read more

Vitamins/thrush: If your baby is taking a vitamin supplement, those usually are orange and can make the tongue appear an orange color. Also, newborns can get oral thrush, which makes a white coating on the tongue. This white coating is easily dyed by vitamins. Yes it might: Since dna testing is seldom urgent why not treat and cure the thrush first and then worry about the dna testing later on. Why is the thrush so severe? Is there any chance there is something wrong with the baby's immunity? See your pediatrician. ...Read more

Need PCP evaluation: not enough information for reason why ranitidine prescribed. Infant needs a thorough PE to evaluate problem.
