Poop Colors: The color of stool is not usually concerning, as it reflects a lot of things we eat. Dark black, red or white stools are the only colors that are worrisome. As far as the heart rate is concerned, a normal baby has a rapid heart beat. Is it fast for him ? If so, take him to see his doctor. ...Read more
Varies: The color depends on diet and bile output during the illness. I have seen blue poop from blue Popsicles or Gatorade. They can be almost clear mucous to brownish water, but very frequently are a beige/creamy white. The hallmark is the horrible smell that goes along with rotavirus - I can walk in a room and tell a baby in there has the illness. ...Read more

Concern but no worry: The amount, color, frequency of stool varies with foods, speed of emptying of the GI tract, medications & supplements ingested, gut flora (unique for each individual), additives (like blood), subtractions (like absent bile), infection, inflammation, & other factors. Had lunch with fried chicken, wings was slightly black burned. When i poop, my stool color was black. is it caused by chicken? no any other symptom.
Unlikely: Generally, black and tarry stools happen when there is cause of upper GI bleed. Here the hemoglobin undergoes chemical reaction leading to change in color. A common cause for this is ulcers. They can be caused by medications (advil (ibuprofen) or motrin) or infections (H. pylori). For now, I would suggest monitoring for other symptoms. It may be absolutely nothing because you have no other symptoms. ...Read more

My two month baby girl refused to sackle these days. Her mother got worried. The baby's stool color is greenish and watery. Doc what is this condition?
Stop worrying: Stool color reflects what you've been eating: fatty or not fatty, high or low fiber, plant or animal, etc.Etc.. The two colors that worry me most are black (bleeding in the stomach) or red (bleeding in the intestines). If you feel good and there have been no changes in your health, relax. If you don't feel good and your health has changed, then stool color might be a clue. See your doctor. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
