Baby Sleeps With Blankets Hire A Nanny
1 year: The american academy of pediatrics recommends keeping all blankets out of cribs until at least 1 year old. This is in order to decrease the risk of sids (which dramatically decreases after 12 mo). Instead of using blankets for your young ones dress them in warm footie pajamas. After 12 mo most babies have the ability to remove a blanket from their face or roll over. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Family member who had a stuffy nose was holding my 14 week old breastfed baby. Will my baby get sick?
When my 3 month old who sleeps through the night wakes up, his hands are freezing. I don't over dress him andi use a fan to prevent sids, heat set@ 70?
Common energy saver: Infants in a cool environment often shift blood flow from the top skin down deeper to conserve the heat & energy they use to grow. Fingers, toes, lips & ears are often cooler than surrounding areas.Sleeping in a onzie with mittens & hat is what i reccomend. The cold hands is not a sign of a problem & likely bothers you more than baby.Fans or pacifiers may drop sids risk but not > sleeping on hisback. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
Loaded question: Why do you ask? If an 80+ year old wanted to take his/her baby blanket with them to bed i wouldn't care or stop them. Kids usually give up these comfort things when they begin to sense peer pressure at school age.I do not recommend taking them from the child, ever! a kid should be provided his/her own space to decide what comforts them.Adults can be creative in finding ways for kid to give it up. ...Read more

Friend's newborn baby got whooping cough.Granny who didn't know visited sick baby then visited my nb baby on same day. Held both.Chances of catching?
Whooping Cough: I am sorry to hear that your friend's child is ill. There are good vaccinations to prevent this kind of illness in both children and adults now. There is also no guarantee that your granny will get ill. Exposure to illness in no way predicts infection. But, if granny does become seriously ill her physician should know that she was exposed to pertussis, the bug that causes whooping cough. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Yes: Yes, but sharing a bed is more dangerous. Just use a bassinet next to the bed, instead of sharing a bed. A baby sleeping with an adult is at risk of suffocation from fluffy blankets and pillows, from getting his head trapped between the mattress' edge and the wall or headboard, and from getting squashed by a 150-pound adult. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

My 4 month old sleeps in her car seat instead of her crib due to cleft palate complications. No blanket. Is she at risk for sids?
Equal: No more or less so than child without cleft. Recommend having your child evaluated by cleft palate team at the closest children's hospital. May be a bit of a trip, but worth it for the expertise and the team (pediatrician, pediatric dentist, orthodontist, speech therapist, plastic surgeon, oral surgeon, psychiatrist, nutritionist, etc) approach. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Toddler eats little. Pediatrician said healthy , weight not an issue motherinlaw gives iron, won't listen, wants her fatter. Dangers, concerns?
You are parent: You or your husband need to put your foot down with this woman without exception. It is up to you, in consultation with your pediatrician, to decide what is healthy for your child. Older generations felt "fat was better". That meant people had enough wealth for food, etc. Food was given for love/affection (we still give chocolate on valentine's). If you don't want obese child at 5, nip it now! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My 3 months baby refuses to sleep in her bed, the only way she sleeps is in her carseat even at night. Can this be harmful for her developement?
I see no problem: The kid may actually be self selecting a position that helps her deal with heartburn/reflux that can be common when babies lay down. After 5-6 mo this should be less of a problem & you may be able to get baby back into a bed. At this point just do what you need to get through the day / night ...Read more
Good advice: Nothing is old fashioned (which tends to mean out of date and not helpful) that teaches us how to live. Dogs teach unconditional love, discipline (they need to be fed and walked) and the pure joy of a true friend. They teach compassion and understanding.Fathers and mothers offer stability, values, and teach us how to be productive adults. A father teaches a boy how to be a man. More.... ...Read more
