It can be tough: Make time approaching sleep time calm and quiet. Don't feed, overstimulate, have tickles and then expect the child to just shut down and go to sleep. Won't happen. Dont respond instantly so they learn to lull themselves to sleep. Let them figure it out without a lot of interference from you. Google My newborn won't sleep. QUIT soon !!!!!: Babies may need swaddling after birth to settle into sleep. It replicates the tight quarters of the womb & newborns can be startled by arms & legs moving freely. However, gradually loosening the wrap to the point baby is comfortable without, is needed. As soon as baby starts to move more they can twist in the wrap and suffocate. We lose > 100 babies every year in the US due to bedding accidents ...Read more

When he can stand: We lose about 100 kids a year in the US to suffocation in bed linen, bumpers, soft toys when they fall asleep on/in them. When a baby has the physical capability of getting away from these things with ease they can have them in their bed.Until then, it is a deadly choice.Don't offer it and he will adapt. ...Read more

Can swaddling help babies sleep?

Can swaddling help babies sleep?

Yes: There perhaps is something about recreating that intrauterine environment which some infants find most comforting--swaddling. Try it, you will like it...And so will baby! ...Read more
