Can a baby sleep too much? My baby sleep about 4-5 times a day, not including her bed time at 9pm.
Veggies: Congrats for breastfeeding your baby! This is fantastic! We like to slowly add pureed veggies at this age. In general start one food every three days or so. Veggies are very low in potential to cause allergies. I like adding veggies first to really shape your babies palate and get them liking them before adding fruits. Carrots, squash, peas, are great for starters. Have fun! ...Read more
Insomnia: You are doing the right things. Please include stopping stimulants such as tea, coffee, sugar after noon. Also stop work on any screens 1 hour before bed. My sleep quality (measured using the iphone app sleep cycle) averages to 64%. Is this normal, or have i not been sleeping properly?
Consider The Source: With quality sleep one awakens rested and refreshed. This is a subjective measurement. To objectively measure sleep, a polysomnogram is required. This can only be performed in a sleep lab or clinic. While an iphone app may claim to measure sleep quality, the likelihood that it reflects a true measurement of sleep quality is highly questionable. If you feel rested your sleep is likely ok. ...Read more

New Mom Body Clock: is a bit challenged after having a baby. Usually the body clock works itself out once the newborn is sleeping through the night . When sleep schedules remain out of sync, I recommend my patients unwind at night by taking a hot bath/shower then getting to a dark place at the desired bedtime every night. No light from phones or TV's. Some take melatonin at bedtime for 2 wks to help reset things. ...Read more

Great nights!: It's hard to recommend anything that might sacrifice your nights. Preserve that no matter what. For the naps, start a strict daytime feeding schedule of every 2 -3 hours. Force the nap-time, but don't allow the naps to be more than an hour at a time. This will allow your child to get some rest, but hopefully it will not affect your nights. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
