Baby Sitting Up Leaning To On Side
I was born in 1992 with infant alcahol synddrome. Did they have the technology back then to know if I had heart problems? My heart usually skips beats when I lay on myleft side or just sitting down. When I stand up my heart races
Too heavy: The head is heavy and little babies (0-4 months) do not yet have strong enough neck muscles to control it so it sort of falls to one side. Gets better by 4 months. Older babies often do things because they figured out they can. ...Read more
Hasn't been studied: Children living in homes where second-hand cigarette smoke is present have a higher incidence of upper respiratory infections, sinus problems and asthma, and get pneumonia more often as well. It is very possible the same thing occurs with marijuana smoke, but i can find no studies. It is not a good idea, and if one must smoke, it should be outside the home, on a porch or balcony, or another room. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Stomach irritation: We usually recommend waiting until about 6 months before starting to use Ibuprofen for babies for fever or pain. It can cause irritation of the stomach, and in rare cases it can interfere with platelet function. Always ask a doctor for the correct dose. Dose should be based on the baby's weight , not age. ...Read more
Accident/purposeful: Infants may flip occasionally from birth and fully roll with a purpose by 4 months. It has been found that side sleeping is just as risky as belly sleeping with relation to crib death. Always put them down to sleep on theit back, and re-position them if they roll to the side until at least 4 months. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Many issues: I think muscle, bone or visual. A kid may have a transient spasm in the trapezious (neck) muscle that may persist if not treated with therapy. There are some kids born with fusion of some neck vertebrae that have a permanent tilt. Some kids will voluntarily tilt their head because one of the eye muscles is out of balance & they see better that way. ...Read more
Temporary: Brethine (terbutaline) was once used for asthma, but is now more commonly used in late pregnancy to stop preterm contractions. Should not be given to infants/kids. Wears off quickly, so if used to stop labor & labor doesn't stop, by time baby is born med has worn off. In anyone of any age, the most common side effect of terbutaline is brief spell of feeling flushed, fast heart rate or jitteriness. ...Read more
It's illegal, child : Endangerment. Smoking mj, tobacco, crack, etc. Inside or out of the home (it clings to fabrics) makes your baby a passive smoker, bad for his lungs & brain. Because of smaller body surface area, babies get "stoned" by much lower amts. Of mj than adults. Being in an altered state impairs infant development. If a sole caretaker is high, baby's risk of accidental injury or death is also high. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Back is best: The back to sleep campaign that started in the 90's brought a 40% drop in crib death rates in the us.After initial resistance, most have come to understand it's value. Thankfully, the most vulnerable period has passed when kids can roll and turn over. Positioners, wedges and other items offered to stop this are unreliable.Infants should be on a firm mattress with no pillows, blankets or bumpers. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
My boy is 47days old.I wanna start using pampers from his 2months age. Babies have very sensitive skin. Would be there any side affects for this?
Born with defects: I'm not sure if you mean which trimester(s) is it dangerous for the baby or when do the side effects show up after the baby is born, but the problems or defects are present at birth. ...Read more
DO NOT USE!!: Reglan (metoclopramide) has a Black Box Warning from the FDA. This is only used when a drug poses serious side effects. Reglan (metoclopramide) can cause tardive dyskinesia. The internet and chat rooms are filled with discussions of supplements or medications to increase breast milk. Most don't work or are outright dangerous. It makes no sense to treat yourself AND YOUR BABY with medication for a non-illness. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Clarification: It is important to schedule follow up with the doctor who did the tests to clarify what was found and what the treatment plans are. If you mean that you right fallopian tube is blocked then it is a good sign the left is working fine since you were able to get pregnant three times. A blocked tube is unrelated to miscarriages. ...Read more
Does using gripe water along with dentinox colic drops for babies have side effects? Sedative? Harmful?
Usually ok: Doctors usually don't give babies any medications, even over-the-counter items, unless there's good benefit. A mom can bring the items to the doctor to check the ingredients, but a little bit of a trusted brand of gas drops and gripe water drops are ok to try. They may or may not help any colicky symptoms. If they don't seem to help, then they shouldn't be used. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

My two year old was running along the side of his brother when he fell off of his bike it somehow caught my babies leg and gave him a tire burn? help
Mgt: If the abrasion is superficial it should heal without any complication in one week. I would advise watching for any swelling, signs of infection, such as drainage and for any change in her activity/walking/running pattern. In the meantime, please keep the area clean and dry, and a thin layer of antibiotic ointment can help the healing process, when applied three times daily. ...Read more
Do to a fall, my 6 week old infant needed a cat scan. What are the side effects of a scan at such a young age? The dr said cancer but how soon?
Wouldn't worry: There is a tiny increase in cancer risk later in life children who have a bunch of ct scans. We're exposed to unavoidable natural radiation every day, and compared to this, the dose you get from a worthwhile ct scan is trivial. I'm glad junior is okay and has a parent who care so much. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
