Baby Shampoo To Clean Eyes
Blepharitis: Lids scrubs help with blepharitis, or inflammation of the eyelids. There are many ways to do it, including buying pre-packaged lid scrub wipes. I tell my patients just to put some baby shampoo on their finger tips with some tap water and gently scrub your closed eyelids along the lashes. Then rinse your closed lids with tap water. ...Read more
Yes and No: At one point, it was thought that cleaning your eyelids with diluted baby shampoo was a good treatment option for blepharitis, a condition that can lead to red, irritated eyes. However, today's thinking is that baby shampoo is not as gentle as once thought to be, and blepharitis should really be treated with otc lid scrubs. ...Read more
Which is better to clean the eyelids with? Ocusoft Plus or diluted Johnson's Baby Shampoo? Thank you.
Clean Eyelids: Depends on skin type, if you have Demodex or any type of blepharitis. Most patients do well with dilute baby shampoo. Some patient's skin dries out easily with diluted baby shampoo and prefer Ocusoft or Avenova spray (Rx needed). If you have Demodex blepharitis, diluted Tea Tree oil (diluted 50%) works best scrubbing eyelids while closed & washing off after 1minute. See [email protected] ...Read more
I seem to be getting frequent eye styes, despite good eye lid hygiene. (using baby shampoo to wash lids twice daily and stopped using makeup). ideas?
Yes: Baby wipes are generally safe for skin and genital contact for adults as well as children. Double check the ingredient list and don't use if you have allergies to the ingredients. Any type of hand cleaner is fine and baby shampoo will also do well although not universally available. The eye does a terrific job of cleaning itself and a regimen of hand cleaning will lend it an assist. ...Read more
Why ?: Baby bottles need only the same attention you give regular dishware and glasses. A bottle brush can assure that you get any scum spots. You don't need to boil or sterilize them (old wives tale). I would never put any toxic chemicals like bleach in them for any reason. Glass bottles could probably tolerate bleach but would need a massive washout to be safe, plastic bottles would not. ...Read more
When a doctor tells u to use baby shampoo to ur eyelids does that mean u can't wear liquid eyeliner? And washing eyeliner off with soap is bad or no?
Not a problem: The baby shampoo is recommended because your doctor wants you to keep the lids clean to treat blepharitis (a dandruff like condition of the eyelids). Baby shampoo is formulated not to sting when it gets in the eyes, at least less so than the usual shampoos. Once the lids are cleaned, you can use eyeliner and you can wash it off with soap if needed. ...Read more

Is it safe to use Johnson and Johnson baby products like body wash and shampoo for newborn babies considering they have fragrances?
Safe vs advised: Many of these products survive over the years because adults project their personal interest in pleasant smells or fragrances on to the baby.We have no way of knowing if the baby can appreciate the fragrance or not, but you can count on many smaller infants becoming congested from their use.If you can smell it,tiny noses get congested from it. I advise fragrance free only. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
