No: Yes, if the doctor recommended adding rice cereal to breastmilk or formula as a thickener to decrease reflux/spitting symptoms. Otherwise, babies under 4 months of age do not eat baby food. They only drink breastmilk and/or formula. Baby food is started at 6 months. Some parents try giving rice cereal at 4-5 months, but that usually is not necessary. It's best to wait until 6 months. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Safe by why start: Breast milk or formula provide balanced nutrition for infants for the first year of life. Supplements do not improve infant nutrition.50 years ago they were introduced early because people made a crude & incomplete formula from evaporated milk (great for calf's not kids).Today we use solids to introduce texture & a new feeding skill. It's better to wait.: Starting rice cereal before 4 months old increases the risk of developing an allergy to rice. This applies to starting any solid food this early;your baby might be stuck with that food allergy for life. Unless your baby's doctor says you need to for a specific medical condition, it's best to wait til 4 months, then give solids by spoon, not in the bottle, so they can learn to eat & not drink them. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Baby refusing to bf or bottle feed since she started baby rice last week. Stopped baby rice still she bf from 1 breast for 10min then start crying?

You are right to stop the cereal - her milk is the mainstay of her nutrition, and she needs to nurse or take the formula. You could also try sips from a cup if she refuses the bottle -maybe she's just growing up too fast! ...Read more

Does child with tonsillitis usually like to eat soft stuff she eats yogurt and pudding a lot wants to eat other food but scared?
Tonsillitis diet: Indeed kids (and adults too for that matter) prefer soft foods when the throat hurts a lot. Push fluids, and concentrate on protein containing foods like the yogurt she is eating, scrambled eggs, soups, etc. If it goes on for more than a few days, then worry, but go with the flow for a couple of days when she's not feeling well. As throat symptoms improve, add in other foods. ...Read more
4-6 months: The aap recommends solids being started by spoon no earlier than 4 months. I know of 2 exceptions. Some experts recommend cereal to thicken the milk for babies with acid reflux disease ( gerd ). And rarely some babies who are being fed too much formula seem to benefit from cereal earlier. Very, very few babies need cereal to sleep thru the night! that thought is generally and old wive's tale. ...Read more
